Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Thursday higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 305.73 to 307.98 points, a gain of 0.74 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.59 percent at 307.21 points against 305.41 points previously.
The equity market capitalization gained XOF 44.4 billion (about US$761million) to close at XOF 7,581 billion relative to the previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,536 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 33,330 traded stocks relative to 160,459 recorded at the previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,017.797 million (against XOF 2,384.849 million recorded at the previous trading session) exchanged in 32 traded securities via 235 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was SONATEL SENEGAL with 7,292 traded securities (accounted for about 21.81 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 193.048 million contributing nearly 18.97 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 4.21 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.78.
From the market movers’ angle, out of the 32 traded securities today, 13 stocks experienced price gains, 5 witnessed price drops and 14 stocks price remained unchanged relative to the previous closing price. On the positive side, NEI-CEDA COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainers by adding 7.27 percent to end at XOF 4,500. CROWN SIEM COTE D’IVOIRE gained 4.32 percent at XOF 29,000 and SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 82,000 after adding 2.50 percent. Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO share price grew by 1.85 percent to close at XOF 55.00 and SOLIBRA COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 167,000 after adding 1.77 percent.
On the negative side, FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE dipped by 4.37 percent to settle at XOF 30,500 as the biggest loser and BICI COTE D’IVOIRE slipped by 1.99 percent to trade at XOF 99,970. SICABLE COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 0.96 percent to close at XOF 101,000. PALM COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 0.56 percent to settle at XOF 15,195 and AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE slid by 0.43 percent to trade at XOF 21.900.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index surged by 0.18 percent at 163.83 points and public utilities sector index advanced by 0.80 percent to end at 848.15 points. Financial services sector index surged by 0.70 percent to end at 111.55 points and distribution sector index jumped by 0.15 percent to end at 581.82 points. The agriculture sector index sagged by 0.27 percent to close at 197.38 points but transportation sector index rose by 0.24 percent to settle at 1,019.41 points while miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 638.27 points.
