Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Wednesday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 293.07 to 297.33 points, a gain of 1.45 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 1.07 percent to 296.60 against 293.45 points previously.
The equity market capitalization added XOF 78 billion (about US$134 million) to close at XOF 7,319 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,241 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 105,344 traded stocks relative to 244,296 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,622.244 million (against XOF 891.759 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 28 traded securities via 224 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO with 45,840 traded securities (accounted for about 43.51 percent of the total volume). UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 730.443 million contributing nearly 45 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 22.28 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.92.
Among the 28 traded securities today, 12 stocks experienced price gains, 10 witnessed price drops and 6 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainer after adding 7.36 percent to end at XOF 28,450. ONATEL BURKINA FASO soared by7.32 percent at XOF 11,800 and CFAO MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 72,000 after gaining 2.86 percent. TOTAL SENEGAL share price advanced by 1.96 percent to close at XOF 26,000 and SONATEL SENEGAL with a closing price of XOF 26,000 after surging by 1.76 percent.
On the other hand, AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE lost 4.65 percent to settle at XOF 20,500 as the biggest loser and UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 2.64 percent to trade at XOF 29,500. PALM COTE D’IVOIRE tumbled by 1.36 percent to close at XOF 14,500 and BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL decrease by 1.22 percent to trade at XOF 81,000. BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE settled at XOF 119,000 after losing 0.83 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index surged by 0.40 percent at 164.42 points and public utilities sector index grew by 2.26 percent to end at 818.33 points. The distribution sector index jumped by 0.46 percent to end at 538.35 points but financial services sector index stayed flat to end at 108.24 points. Agriculture sector index dropped 0.65 percent to trade at 191.18 points. Transportation sector index climbed by 0.01 percent to settle at 949.12 points and miscellaneous sector index remained flat at 555.56 points.
