Cote D’Ivoire Stock Markets | 24 Nov 2015: Negative sentiment stays onBRVM Bourse equity markets … indices and market cap down
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Tuesday lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 297.46 to 295.08 points, a drop of 0.80 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.37 percent at 302.35 points against 303.47 points previously.
The equity market capitalization dropped XOF 27.7 billion (about US$46 million) to close at XOF 7,461 billion relative to the previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,488 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 131,173 traded stocks relatively to 287,749 recorded at the previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 3,134.258 million (against XOF 581.278 million recorded at the previous trading session) exchanged in 28 traded securities via 275 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was SONATEL SENEGAL with 69,213 traded securities (accounted for about 52.8 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 1,834.668 million contributing nearly 58.54 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 5.14 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.52.
From the market price movers’ perspectives, out of the 28 traded securities today, 11 stocks experienced price gains, 5 witnessed price drops and 12 stocks price remained unchanged relative to the previous closing price. On the price gainers, BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainers after surging by7.50 percent to end at XOF 163,390. CROWN SIEM COTE D’IVOIRE added 4.14 percent to trade at XOF 36,450 and UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 25,000 by adding 3.73 percent. SMB COTE D’IVOIRE share price gained 2.72 percent to trade at XOF 18,490 and Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO with a closing price of XOF 50 after gaining 2.04 percent.
In the zone region, SONATEL SENEGAL plunged by 1.85 percent to close at XOF 26,500 as the biggest price losers and SGB COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 1.21 percent to close at XOF 126,500. PALM COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 1.20 percent to close at XOF 12,745. CIE COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 0.98 percent to end at XOF 75,995 and CIE COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 0.81 percent to settle at XOF 12,200.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index added 0.43 percent at 171.33 points and public utilities sector index sagged by 1.63 percent to end at 832.85 points. Financial services sector index gained 0.67 percent to end at 105.21 points and distribution sector index declined by 0.89 percent to end at 571.40 points. The agriculture sector index grew by 0.55 percent to close at 178.26 points. The transportation sector index remained unchanged to settle at 1,283.58. points and miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 650.62 points.
