Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) main indices closed the trading session this Wednesday, slightly lower than the previous day for BRVM 10, and higher for BRVM Composite. BRVM 10 index decreased from 295.08 to 295.06 points, a drop of 0.01 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.25 percent at 303.11 points against 302.35 points previously.
The equity market capitalization lost XOF 18.9 billion (about US$30.5 million) to close at XOF 7,480 billion relative to the previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,461 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 103,106 traded stocks relatively to 131,173 recorded at the previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,151.990 million (against XOF 3,134.258 million recorded at the previous trading session) exchanged in 28 traded securities via 183 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK Transnational Incorporated TOGO with 70,842 traded securities (accounted for about 68.7 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 255.255 million contributing nearly 22.20 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 7.17 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.60.
From the market price movers’ perspectives, out of the 28 traded securities today, 7 stocks experienced price gains, 9 witnessed price drops and 12 stocks price remained unchanged relative to the previous closing price. On the price gainers, CROWN SIEM COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainers after surging by 7.49 percent to end at XOF 39,180. BANK OF AFRICA BENIN grew by 7.20 percent to trade at XOF 134,000 and CFAO MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 90,000 by gaining 5.76 percent. AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE share price jumped by 2.50 percent to end at XOF 20,500 and SODE COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 93,000 after gaining 2.20 percent.
In the zone region, PALM COTE D’IVOIRE plummeted by 5.06 percent to close at XOF 12,100 as the biggest price losers and SGB COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 2.62 percent to close at XOF 18,005. TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 2.38 percent to close at XOF 20.500. VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 1.31 percent to end at XOF 75,500 and SAPH COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 0.92 percent to settle at XOF 10,800.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index added 0.15 percent at 171.58 points and public utilities sector index grew by 0.35 percent to end at 835.74 points. Financial services sector index gained 0.51 percent to end at 105.75 points and distribution sector index advanced by 0.18 percent to end at 572.40 points. The agriculture sector index fell by 2.54 percent to close at 173.76 points. The transportation sector index remained unchanged to settle at 1,283.58 points and miscellaneous sector index sagged by 0.19 percent to close at 649.38 points.
