Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Friday (after closed on Thursday for Muslim festival), almost stable compared to the previous trading session. BRVM 10 index rose from 297.33 to 297.46 points, a slight increase of 0.04 percent. BRVM Composite index remain unchanged at 296.60 points.
The equity market capitalization lost XOF 40 million (about US$69,048) to close at XOF 7,318.77 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,318.81 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 142,980 traded stocks relative to 105,344 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 2,285.397 million (against XOF 1,622.244 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 26 traded securities via 211 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO with 55,932 traded securities (accounted for about 39.12 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 1,290.621 million contributing nearly 56.5 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 29.05 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.87.
Among the 26 traded securities today, 6 stocks experienced price gains, 10 witnessed price drops and 10 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. ONATEL BURKINA FASO emerged as the top price gainer after adding 7.50 percent to end at XOF 12,685. TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE rose by 3.49 percent at XOF 23,400 and BANK OF AFRICA NIGER closed at XOF 84,900 after surging by 1.07 percent. SGB COTE D’IVOIRE share price advanced by 0.44 percent to close at XOF 113,000 and BICI COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 95,005 after surging by 0.01 percent.
On the other hand, UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 6.78 percent to settle at XOF 27,500 as the biggest loser and MOVIS COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 2.00 percent to trade at XOF 4,895. FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 1.58 percent to close at XOF 28,000 and SODE COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 1.23 percent to trade at XOF 80,000. BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL settled at XOF 80,000 after losing 1.23 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index sagged by 1.11 percent at 162.59 points and public utilities sector index fell by 0.02 percent to end at 818.13 points. The distribution sector index jumped by 1.39 percent to end at 545.82 points and financial services sector index grew by 0.02 percent to end at 108.26 points. Agriculture sector index dropped 0.16 percent to trade at 190.87 points. Transportation sector index marginally sagged by 0.04 percent to settle at 948.70 points and miscellaneous sector index remained flat at 555.56 points.
