Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Monday higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 303.72 to 305.78 points, a gain of 0.68 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.52 percent at 305.82 points against 304.25 points previously.
The equity market capitalization grew by XOF 38.8 billion (about US$671million) to close at XOF 7,546 billion relative to the previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,508 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 64,850 traded stocks relative to 128,744 recorded at the previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 386.554 million (against XOF 851.286 million recorded at the previous trading session) exchanged in 29 traded securities via 186 deals.
Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with 49,787 traded securities (accounted for about 76.8 percent of the total volume). BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 121.005 million contributing nearly 31.30 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 3.72 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.78.
From the market movers’ perspectives, out of the 29 traded securities today, 11 stocks experienced price gains, 6 witnessed price drops and 12 stocks price remained unchanged relative to the previous closing price. On the gainers zone, SGB COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainers by adding 3.09 percent to end at XOF 130,000. ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO surged by 1.85 percent at XOF 55.00 and FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 31,500 after gaining 1.61 percent. BANK OF AFRICA BENIN share price grew by 0.80 percent to close at XOF 126.00 and BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 121,005 after adding 0.75 percent.
On the losers’ district, UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE slacked by 1.69 percent to settle at XOF 29,000 as the biggest loser and SAPH COTE D’IVOIRE slipped by 1.67 percent to trade at XOF 11,505. SICABLE COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 0.98 percent to close at XOF 101,000. VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 0.66 percent to settle at XOF 71,025 and ONATEL BURKINA FASO slid by 0.38 percent to trade at XOF 13,150.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index marginally lost 0.03 percent at 164.89 points but public utilities sector index advanced by 0.22 percent to end at 835.31 points. Financial services sector index surged by 1.50 percent to end at 112.23 points, but distribution sector index went down by 0.04 percent to end at 581.94 points. The agriculture sector index sagged by 0.33 percent to close at 195.50 points, but transportation sector index rose by 0.70 percent to settle at 1,026.57 points while miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 638.27 points.
