Cote D’Ivoire Stock Markets | 29 Oct 2015: Bourse Régionale des Valeurs Mobilières closes red, agriculture sector loses 3.25%
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Thursday lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 305.30 to 303.75 points, a drop of 0.51 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.41 percent at 304.84 points against 306.11 points previously.
The equity market capitalization grew by XOF 31.48 billion (about US$541million) to close at XOF 7,522 billion relative to the previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,554 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 59,053 traded stocks relative to 103,679 recorded at the previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 921.623 million (against XOF 1,266.624 million recorded at the previous trading session) exchanged in 29 traded securities via 209 deals.
Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with 45,765 traded securities (accounted for about 77.50 percent of the total volume). SGB COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 479.387 million contributing nearly 52.02 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 6.79 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.63.
From the market movers’ perspectives, out of the 29 traded securities today, 7 stocks experienced price gains, 13 witnessed price drops and 9 stocks price remained unchanged relative to the previous closing price. On the losers’ district, PALM COTE D’IVOIRE skid by 6.67 percent to settle at XOF 14,000 as the biggest loser and CIE COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 3.99 percent to trade at XOF 86,405. UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 3.92 percent to close at XOF 24,500. FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE lost 3.54 percent to settle at XOF 30,000 and BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE somersaulted by 2.25 percent to trade at XOF 215,050.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index lost 0.56 percent at 162.77 points and public utilities sector index advanced by 0.42 percent to end at 836.48 points. Financial services sector index sagged by 0.32 percent to end at 111.01 points and distribution sector index went up by 0.93 percent to end at 588.52 points. The agriculture sector index declined by 3.25 percent to close at 189.05 points. The transportation sector index fell by 2.22 percent to settle at 1,042.01 points and miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 638.27 points.
