Cote D’Ivoire Stock Markets | 8 Sep 2015: Bourse Régionale des Valeurs Mobilières closes higher, but transportation sector lower
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Tuesday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 294.33 to 295.41 points, a gain of 0.37 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.14 percent to 295.12 against 294.72 points previously.
The equity market capitalization gained XOF 9 billion (about US$15.5 million) to close at XOF 7,282 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,273 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 224,063 traded stocks relative to 55,966 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 2,438.424 million (against XOF 437.012 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 30 traded securities via 223 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with 178,375 traded securities (accounted for almost 80 percent of the total volume). CIE COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 1,466.543 million contributing nearly 60 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 10.24 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 23.55.
Out of the 30 traded securities today, 13 stocks experienced price gains, 11 witnessed price drops and 6 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price mover after adding 7.24 percent to end at XOF 29,980. ONATEL BURKINA FASO jumped by 2.36 percent at XOF 13,000 and SAPH COTE D’IVOIRE traded at XOF 12,000 after climbing by 1.69 percent. TOTAL SENEGAL share price soared by 1.56 percent to close at XOF 25,000 and CFAO MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 74,000 with 1.37 percent gains.
On the losers’ table, NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE slacked by 2.47 percent to settle at XOF 55,000 as the biggest loser and BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 2.37 percent to trade at XOF 185,500. UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 1.82 percent to close at XOF 27,000 and ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO fell by 1.75 percent to trade at XOF 56. SOLIBRA COTE D’IVOIRE settled at XOF 168,000 after declining by 1.18 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index sagged by 0.03 percent at 163.43 points but public utilities sector index surged by 0.84 percent to end at 805.74 points. The distribution sector index jumped by 0.34 percent to end at 556.69 points but financial services sector index sagged by 0.83 percent to end at 108.10 points. Agriculture sector index grew by 0.92 percent to trade at 197.3 points. Miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 555.56 but Transportation sector ended at 903.74 points after falling by 2.32 percent.
