Egypt Equity Markets | 21 Sep 2015 : Egyptian Equities continue to advance, EGX30 up 0.70%, market cap tops EGP 455 mill….
Cairo, Egypt, Capital Markets in Africa — Egyptian Exchange equity trading continued to advance at the end of todays trading session, with several indices including the benchmark index surging forward as trading entered its second day of the week. The equity market capitalization ended at EGP 455,945 billion (US$58,429 million) recorded at the end of the previous days trading session.
The benchmark index EGX30 gained by 50.85 points or 0.70 percent to end 7285.85 points from 7234.46 points recorded previously. Likewise, the equal-weighted indexes EGX50 gained 7.6 points no to close on 1,211.48 points.
The EGX70 index, which measures small and mid-cap index, increased by 0.25 percent or 0.99 points to settle at 390.95 points similarly the broader index EGX100 surged by 0.49 percent or 4.14 points to close on 849.95 points while the EGX20 capped index gained by 1 percent or 68.77 points to close at 6938.25 points.
From market activity viewpoint, today turnover was recorded at EGP 28.755 million exchanged in 1,755 million traded securities in 238 deals. Egyptian and foreign investors stepped in as net sellers with EGP 12.1 million and EGP 3.5 million respectively while Arabs came out as net buyers with EGP 23.9 million.
Among the 238 traded stocks today, there were 101 price gainers and 38 price losers and 47 remaining unchanged bringing the market breadth to end positive. The gainers were Pyramisa Hotels which gained by 9.49 percent to close the trading sessions at EGP 21.69 and Alexandria New Medical rose by 9.05 percent with closing price of EGP 22.90. Nosa international Hospitals jumped by 8.80 percent to conclude at EGP 33.86. Cairo Oils and Soap leapt by 6.67 percent to end at EGP 9.43 and Arab Aluminium also gained by 5.58 percent to settle at EGP 12.87.
On the other hand, Cairo Educational services lost by 6.78 percent to end at EGP 10.45, Rakta paper manufacturing plunged by 5.80 percent to trade at EGP 3.41 and Juhayna Food Industries slumped by 4.41 percent with closing price of EGP 8.23. Likewise, Advanced Pharmaceuticals Packaging Co (APP) slumped by 3.78 percent to end at EGP 3.82 and Middle Egypt Flour Mills went down by 3.50 percent to trade at EGP 16.27.
In terms of the sectors, Banks sector index advanced by 0.92 percent to close at 3,456.1 points. Healthcare & Pharmaceutical lost by 0.04 points to close at 2,596.44 points however Chemicals increased by 0.04 percent to close at 673.3 points. Basic Resources sector index rose by 1.89 percent to close at 399.43 points, Travel & Leisure sector index surged by 1.32 percent to 185.84 points and Food & Beverages lost by 2.84 percent to settle at 1,224.03 points. Construction & Materials surged by 0.07 percent to close on 1,410.93 points and Personal & Household sector index surged by 0.17 percent to close on 836.4 points. The Industrial Goods & Services rose by 2.27 percent to 1011.07 points and Real Estate increased by 0.88 percent to close on 1,129.39 points. Telecommunications gained by 0.11 percent to close 289.32 points and Financial Services excluding Banks surged by 0.86 percent to close on 364.77 points.
