Egypt Equity Markets | 29 Sep 2015 : Egyptian Equities lose ground, all indices down, market cap ends EGP 454 mill….
Cairo, Egypt, Capital Markets in Africa — Egyptian Exchange equity trading shed the gains made during the previous days trading with several indices including the benchmark index losing ground as trading entered its second day of the week. The equity market capitalization ended at EGP 454,827 billion (US$58,069 million) recorded at the end of the days trading session.
The benchmark index EGX30 lost by 77.53 points or 1.05 percent to end 7331.53 points from the 7427.25 points recorded previously. Likewise, the equal-weighted index EGX50 lost by 10.47 points or 0.86 percent to close on 1,212.21 points.
The EGX70 index, which measures small and mid-cap index, decreased by 1.13 percent or 4.46 points to settle at 389.43 points similarly the broader index EGX100 declined by 0.69 percent or 5.81 points to close on 841.33 points while the EGX20 capped index lost by 0.89 percent or 62.11 points to close at 6940.72 points.
From market activity viewpoint, today turnover was recorded at EGP 2,653 million exchanged in 160 million traded securities in 267 deals.
Among the 267 traded stocks today, there were 38 price gainers and 107 price losers and 35 remaining unchanged bringing the market breadth to end negative. The gainers were Misr Oil and Soap which gained by 9.09 percent to close the trading sessions at EGP 9 and IDRE rose by 8.09 percent with closing price of EGP 4.41. Istithmaraat jumped by 6.8 percent to conclude at EGP 1.1. ICFC leapt by 6.62 percent to end at EGP 2.9 and SCG Mills also gained by 5.47 percent to settle at EGP 13.7.
On the other hand, Arab Aluminium lost by 16.63 percent to end at EGP 10.73, Cairo Oil and Soap plunged by 16.22 percent to trade at EGP 7.9 and QNB Alahli slumped by 10.03 percent with closing price of EGP 33. Likewise, Assiut Islamic Trading Co. slumped by 6.51 percent to end at EGP 5.46 and PSAD went down by 4.50 percent to trade at EGP 1.06.
In terms of the sectors, Banks sector index declined by 0.85 percent to close at 3,534.47 points. Healthcare & Pharmaceutical lost by 0.03 points to close at 2,595.73 points however Chemicals decreased by 0.26 percent to close at 670.87 points. Basic Resources sector index fell by 1.62 percent to close at 397.55 points, Travel & Leisure sector index lost by 0.82 percent to 184.87 points and Food & Beverages lost by 1.77 percent to settle at 1,206.06 points. Construction & Materials was down by 0.29 percent to close on 1,412.99 points and Personal & Household sector index surged by 0.17 percent to close on 836.4 points. The Industrial Goods & Services decreased by 0.56 percent to 1017.75 points and Real Estate declined by 1.40 percent to close on 1,121.25 points. Telecommunications went down by 1.30 percent to close 288.1 points and Financial Services excluding Banks lost by 0.52 percent to close on 363.62 points.
