Mauritius Equity Market | 25 Nov 2015: Bullish momentum continues on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius … companies add MUR 537 million in value
PORT LOUIS, Mauritius, Capital Markets in Africa — Positive momentum continued on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius at the end of Wednesday’s equity trading session. The equity market capitalization closed at MUR 202.534 billion after adding MUR 537 million (about US$15 million) relatively to the previous market capitalization of MUR 201.997. The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) gathered 0.27 percent or 4.81 points to end at 1,818.67 and SEM10 index surged by 0.46 percent or 1.61 points to close at 349.33 points.
Looking at the market activity, the overall total volume trade ended at 3,577,982 (relatively to 3,009,987 recorded at the previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 34.830 million against previously recorded turnover of MUR 24.815 million.
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings traded 2,633,400 (about 73.6 percent of total volume) at MUR 1.950 million and CIM Financial Services Limited registered 246,350 traded stocks amounted to MUR 1.838 million. CIEL Limited exchanged 164,932 shares at a turnover of MUR 1.102 million and Mauritius Development Investment Trust recorded a total volume of 151,134 shares at MUR 722,627. MCB Group also recorded 102,900 shares at MUR 21.353 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 29 traded securities there were 5 price gainers and 9 price losers, hence the market sentiment ended in the negative zone. On the positive district, LOTTOTECH Limited added 2.20 percent to close at MUR 3.25, Rogers & Co Limited settle at MUR 27.95 after adding 1.64 percent and SBM Holdings Limited soared by 1.35 percent to end at MUR 0.75. MCB Group closed at MUR 0.48 by adding 0.48 percent and ENL Land Limited grew by 0.22 percent to trade at MUR 46.40.
In the negative district, Mauritius Chemical & Fertilizer Industry concluded at MUR 20.00 after dropping 2.66 percent and ENL Commercial Limited sagged by 2.66 percent to end at MUR 18.30. United Basalt Products decreased by 1.97 percent to end at MUR 74.50; Mauritius Oil Refinery Limited went down 1.92 percent to end at MUR 25.50 and BLUELIEF Limited settled at MUR 3.85 after dropping 1.28 percent.
The DEMEX index added 0.11 percent or 0.23 points to close at 197.61 points and the market capitalization recorded MUR 48.588 billion after gaining MUR 55 million relatively to the previous market capitalization of MUR 48.533 million. The total value traded was MUR 8.837 million exchanged in 315,389 traded securities. United investment Mauritius rose by 3.85 percent to trade at MUR 13.50, ENL Limited (Preference) added 0.99 percent to settle at MUR 25.50, LES MOULINS (Ordinary) higher by 0.17 percent to end MUR 149.25. Mauritius Secondary Industry surged by 0.16 percent to settle at MUR 31.55 and LES MOULINS (Preference) closed at MUR 312.25 by gaining 0.08 percent. While CIEL Textile Limited lost 0.53 percent to end at MUR 37.80.
