Mauritius Equity Markets | 04 Nov 2015 : SEMDEX Index up 15bps, SEM10 Index 28bps higher, Market Cap US$9 million up
PORT LOUIS, Mauritius, Capital Markets in Africa — Positive momentum continued on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius at the end today’s equity trading session. The Mauritius official market equity market capitalization ended at MUR 210.155 billion after adding MUR 308 million (about US$8.6 million) compared to the previous market capitalization of MUR 209.847 billion.
In the same positive mood, the Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) grew by 0.15 percent or 2.76 points to close at 1,887.11 and SEM10 index advanced by 0.28 percent or 1.00 points to close at 363.53 points.
In respect of the market activity, the overall total volume trade ended at 20,011,793 (a rise relatively to volume of 9,745,676 recorded at the previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 53.056 million (an increase relatively to MUR 32.999 million recorded at the previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 26,270,357 (about 93.8 percent of total volume) at MUR 20.974 million and CIEL Limited registered 1,060,600 traded stocks amounted to MUR 7.212 million. POLICY Limited had 144,300 at MUR 960,684 and New Mauritius Hotels recorded a total volume of 143,000 shares at MUR 2.574. New Mauritius Hotels (Preference) also recorded 120,000 shares at MUR 1.320 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 32 traded securities there were 4 price gainers and 8 price losers, hence the market sentiment ended in the negative region. New Mauritius Hotels (Preference) climbed by 7.32 percent to end at MUR 11.00, LOTTOTECH Limited gained 2.56 percent to end at MUR 3.20 and Rogers & Co Limited added 1.35 percent to close at MUR 30.00. SMB Holdings Limited closed at MUR 0.80 after gaining 1.27 percent.
On the contrary, BLUELIFE Limited dropped 1.41 percent to settle at MUR 4.20 and CIM Financial Services faltered by 0.76 percent to end at MUR 7.80 and OMNICANE Limited dipped by 0.74 percent to end at MUR 67.00. POLICY Limited traded at MUR 6.61 after losing 0.60 percent. INNODIS Limited plunged by 0.23 percent to conclude at MUR 44.00.
The DEMEX index closed at 199.54 points by dropping 0.02 points or 0.01 percent. The market capitalization closed at MUR 49.063 billion after dropping MUR 6 million (relatively to MUR 49.069 billion recorded at the previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 2,073,581 exchanged in 118,307 traded securities. United Investment added 2.32 percent to trade at MUR 13.25 but MEDINE Limited sagged by 0.80 percent to end at MUR 62.00.
