Mauritius Equity Markets | 14 Sep 2015 : SEDMEX and SEM10 lower but DEMEX index higher
PORT LOUIS, Mauritius, Capital Markets in Africa — Stock Exchange of Mauritius continued in the red zone. The equity market capitalization closed at MUR 214.449 after losing MUR 378 million (US$10.6 million) relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 214.828 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) plummeted by 0.18 percent or 3.41 points to close at 1,925.70 points and SEM10 index closed at 366.43 points after falling by 0.24 percent or 0.87 points.
From the market activity viewpoint, the overall total volume trade ended at 2,544,323 (a decrease relative to volume of 2,938,337 recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 20.34 million (a fall relative to MUR 30.602 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 2,052,500 (about 81 percent of total volume) at MUR 1.745 million and New Mauritius Hotels registered 137,900 traded stocks amounted to MUR 2.527 million. CIEL Limited had 60,000 at MUR 405,600 and New Mauritius Hotels (Preference) recorded a total volume of 51,000 shares at MUR 571,200. Alteo Limited also recorded 46,200 shares at MUR 1.514 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, out of 25 traded securities there were 2 price gainers and 10 price losers, hence the market sentiment ends negative. United Docks Limited added 5.22 percent to end at MUR 70.50 and Bluelife Limited ended at MUR 4.32 after gaining 1.89 percent. On the losers’ chart, Lottotech Limited ended at MUR 3.80 after losing 2.56 percent, B Mare Holdings Limited sagged by 1.43 percent to settle at MUR 27.50 and New Mauritius Limited fell by 1.08 percent to close at MUR 18.30. Fincorp Investment Limited plummeted by 1.04 percent to trade at MUR 19.00 and Rogers & Co Limited tumbled by 0.84 percent to end at MUR 29.50.
The DEMEX index ended at 206.32 points after adding 1.66 points or 0.81 percent. The market capitalization added MUR 395 million to close at MUR 49.034 billion (relative to MUR 48.639 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 1.928 million exchanged in 50,802 traded securities. Swan Life Limited advanced by 15.38 percent to close at MUR 1,200.00 and EUDCOS gained 1.00 to close at MUR 15.15. However, CIEL Textile Limited (-1.03 close at MUR 39.60) and FIDES Limited (-0.36 end at MUR 69.75).
