Port Louis, Mauritius, Capital Markets in Africa — Mauritius equity market capitalization rose by to end at MUR 216.597 million after losing MUR 1.84 billion (US$ 52 million) relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 214.757 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) surged by 0.86 percent or 16.52 points to close at 1,944.99 points and SEM10 index closed at 372.31 points after falling by 1.29 percent or 4.74 points.
The overall total volume trade ended at 13.762 million (a rise relative to volume of 4.460 million recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 68.856 million (a rise relative to MUR 49.347 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 12.968 million (about 94 percent of total volume) at MUR 11.019 million and MCB Group registered 194,350 traded stocks amounted to MUR 40.768 million. Gamma Civic had 109,730 stocks at MUR 2.716 million and Terra Limited recorded a total volume of 102,013 shares at MUR 2.959 million. LOTTOTECH Limited also recorded 58,269 shares at MUR 229,080.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 27 traded securities there were 5 price gainer and 5 losers. MCB Group emerged as the top gainer by adding 2.75 percent to end at MUR 214.75, SBM Holdings ended at MUR 0.86 after surging by 2.38 percent and Promotion And Development ended at MUR 95.50 after surging by 0.53 percent. TERRA Limited (+0.52 percent at MUR 29.15) and Rogers & Co Limited (+0.34 percent at MUR 29.30).
On the contrary, the loser was Lottotech Limited with a price reduction of 2.99 percent to trade at MUR 2.99 and Alteo Limited sagged by 1.18 percent to conclude at MUR 33.60. Gamma Civic Limited tumbled by 1.00 percent to end at MUR 24.75. Innodis Limited settled at MUR 49.75 after plunging by MUR 0.25 or 0.50 percent and POLICY Mauritius went down by 0.30 percent to settle at MUR 6.68.
The DEMEX index ended at 203.34 points after collapsed by 0.80 points or 0.39 percent. The market capitalization lost by MUR 190 million to close at MUR 48.328 (relative to MUR 48.518 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 11.069 million exchanged in 528,102 traded securities. EUDCOS fell by 5.66 percent to end at MUR 15.00, Constance Hotel closed at MUR 36.50 after gaining 1.35 percent and LES MOULINS by 1.22 percent lower to end at MUR 149.00. MFD Group Limited (-0.91 percent to end at MUR 10.90).
