Mauritius Equity Markets | 22 Oct 2015: Bull reappear, SEMDEX index 0.19% higher Air Mauritius leads the gainers
PORT LOUIS, Mauritius, Capital Markets in Africa — The Stock Exchange of Mauritius equity market capitalization closed at MUR 208.405 billion after adding MUR 404 million (about US$11 million) compared to previous market capitalization of MUR 208.004 billion.
In the same positive sentiment, the Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) rose by 0.19 percent or 3.59 points to close at 1,871.43 and SEM10 index edged up by 0.24 percent or 0.85 points to close at 358.29 points.
In respect of the market activity, the overall total volume trade ended at 1,271,225 (a fall relative to volume of 2,744,005 recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 19.199 million (a decrease relative to MUR 35.334 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings Limited recorded 717,400 (about 56.43 percent of total volume) at MUR 571,920 and CIEL Limited registered 157,403 traded stocks amounted to MUR 1.066 million. ALTEO Limited had 85,350 at MUR 2.914 million and New Mauritius Hotels Limited recorded a total volume of 56,308 shares at MUR 1.005 million. LOTTOTECH Limited also recorded 45,700 shares at MUR 140,360.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 31 traded securities there were 10 price gainers and 4 price losers, hence the market sentiment ended in positive. Air Mauritius Limited soared by 7.48 percent to end at MUR 11.50, LOTTOTECH Limited surged by 3.33 percent to end at MUR 3.10 and Rogers & Co Limited grew by 1.65 percent to trade at MUR 27.80. CIM Financial Services Limited traded at MUR 7.90 by adding 1.02 percent and OMNICANE Limited edged up by 0.74 percent to close at MUR 68.00.
Conversely, Vivo Energy Limited sagged by 2.21 percent to settle at MUR 110.50, Swan General Limited waned by 1.66 percent to end at MUR 429.75 and Fincorp Investment Mauritius Limited dropped 0.54 percent to end at MUR 18.50. Harel Mallac Limited ended at MUR 95.50 after dropping 0.26 percent.
The DEMEX index closed at 200.39 points by dropping 0.02 points or 0.01 percent. The market capitalization closed at MUR 49.272 billion after dropping MUR 5 million (relative to MUR 49.277 billion recorded at the previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 7.363 million exchanged in 398,253 traded securities. ENL Investment Limited gained 1.09 percent to trade at MUR 46.50 and FIDES Limited advanced by 0.79 percent to end at MUR 64.50 but MEDINE Limited waned by 0.80 percent to end at MUR 62.00.
