PORT LOUIS, Mauritius, Capital Markets in Africa — The Stock Exchange of Mauritius equity market capitalization closed at MUR 213.189 after falling by MUR 536 million (US$15 million) relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 213.725 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) went down by 0.25 percent or 4.81 points to close at 1,914.40 points and SEM10 index closed at 364.83 points after falling by 0.35 percent or 1.27 points.
From the market activity viewpoint, the overall total volume trade ended at 1,620,542 (a reduction relative to volume of 2,373,799 recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 24.008 million (a rise relative to MUR 16.692 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 898,800 (about 55 percent of total volume) at MUR 763,980 and Mauritius Union Assurance Right issues registered 288,847 traded stocks amounted to MUR 785,788. CIM Financial Services had 113,500 at MUR 939,782 and MCB Group recorded a total volume of 64,006 shares at MUR 13.320 million. Mauritius Development Investment Trust also recorded 61,700 shares at MUR 314,690.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, out of 22 traded securities there were 3 price gainers and 6 price losers, hence the market sentiment ends negative. Rogers & Co Limited gained by 1.72 percent to end at MUR 29.50, Promotion And Development Limited ended at MUR 96.00 after adding 0.52 percent, Mauritius Union Assurance Right issues grew by 0.33 percent to close at MUR 2.01.
On the other hand, ENL Commercial Limited closed at MUR 19.60 after losing 2.00 percent, Lottotech Limited crashed by 1.28 percent to settle at MUR 3.85 and SBM Holdings slumped by 1.16 percent to close at MUR 0.85. New Mauritius Hotels plunged by 1.11 percent to trade at MUR 17.80 and MCB Group declined by 0.48 percent to end at MUR 208.00.
The DEMEX index ended at 208.31 points after falling by 0.12 points or 0.06 percent. The market capitalization added MUR 1.6 billion to close at MUR 51.219 billion (relative to MUR 49.632 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 3.148 million exchanged in 122,198 traded securities. Union Investment gained by 0.75 percent to trade at MUR 13.40 and Hotelest Limited added 0.14 percent to settle at MUR 37.00. Whereas, Attitude Property Limited sagged by 0.93 percent to trade at MUR 10.60, Phoenix Investment declined by 0.79 percent to settle at MUR 250.00 and Ascencia Limited (Class A Shares) plunged by 0.74 percent to stop at MUR 13.40.
