PORT LOUIS, Mauritius, Capital Markets in Africa — Stock Exchange of Mauritius equity trading end this week trading session on a negative note. As a result the equity market capitalization closed lower at MUR 213.029 billion by losing MUR 153 million compared to previous market capitalization of MUR 213.182 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) marginally fell by 1.28 points or 0.07 percent to close at 1,913.05 and SEM10 index sagged by 0.18 percent or 058 points to end at 364.69 points.
From the market activity viewpoint, the overall total volume trade ended at 17,495,622 (a rise relative to volume of 1,732,834 recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 36.141 million (a fall relative to MUR 40.316 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 16,628,200 (about 95 percent of total volume) at MUR 14.134 million and CIM Financial Services Limited registered 300,200 traded stocks amounted to MUR 2.480 million. CIEL Limited had 135,000 at MUR 905,140 and Mauritius Development Investment Trust recorded a total volume of 120,000 shares at MUR 621,505. Sun Resorts Mauritius also recorded 102,513 shares at MUR 3.845 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 35 traded securities there were 7 price gainers and 6 price losers, hence the market sentiment ends positive. ENL Commercial Limited gained 4.59 percent to end at MUR 20.50, GAMMA Civic ended at MUR 28.00 after adding 3.70 percent, Air Mauritius soared by 3.00 percent to close at MUR 10.30. ALTEO Limited added 1.78 percent with a closing price of MUR 34.30 and United Docks Limited advanced by 1.41 percent with a closing price of MUR 72.00.
On the other hand, Mauritius Chemical Fertilizer Industry ended at MUR 22.00 after losing 3.93 percent, New Mauritius Hotels (Preference) sagged by 1.79 percent to settle at MUR 11.00 and Sun Resort Mauritius Limited slumped by 1.32 percent to close at MUR 37.50. SBM Holdings plunged by 1.16 percent to trade at MUR 0.85 and OMNICANE Limited fell by 0.72 percent to end at MUR 69.00.
The DEMEX index ended at 207.72 points after slightly fell by 0.01 points. The market capitalization lost MUR 2 million to close at MUR 51.073 billion (relative to MUR 51.075 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 1.644 million exchanged in 104,427 traded securities. SODIA sagged by 5.88 percent to trade at MUR 0.32, ENL Limited (Preference) plunged by 5.36 percent to settle at MUR 26.50 and SIT Land Hedge Option crashed by 3.64 percent to trade at MUR 10,600.
