Mauritius Equity Markets | 28 Sep 2015 : Stock Exchange of Mauritius Equity Witnesses Bull, Indices Higher
PORT LOUIS, Mauritius, Capital Markets in Africa — On Monday, Stock Exchange of Mauritius equity began the week on a bullish mood with indices and market capitalization ended higher. The equity market capitalization closed lower at MUR 213.125 billion after adding MUR 6 million (about US$168,067) compared to previous market capitalization of MUR 213.029 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) surged by 0.04 percent or 0.77 points to close at 1,913.82 and SEM10 index soared by 0.11 percent or 040 points to end at 365.09 points.
From the market activity viewpoint, the overall total volume trade ended at 5,601,630 (a fall relative to volume of 17,495,622 recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 44.511 million (a fall relative to MUR 36.141 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 2,950,400 (about 52.67 percent of total volume) at MUR 2.508 million and CIEL Limited registered 1,213,305 traded stocks amounted to MUR 8.103 million. New Mauritius Hotel had 1,004,797 at MUR 18.085 million and CIM Financial Services Limited recorded a total volume of 107,700 shares at MUR 1.637 million. Mauritius Development Investment Trust also recorded 60,000 shares at MUR 306,800.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 22 traded securities there were 3 price gainers and 7 price losers, hence the market sentiment ends negative. FINCORP Investment Limited gained 4.74 percent to end at MUR 19.90, New Mauritius Hotel ended at MUR 18.00 after adding 2.86 percent and Ireland Blyth soared by 2.46 percent to close at MUR 114.75.
On the other hand, Mauritius Development Investment Trust ended at MUR 5.10 after losing 1.54 percent, Sun Resort Mauritius Limited sagged by 1.33 percent to settle at MUR 37.00 and ALTEO Limited slumped by 0.87 percent to close at MUR 34.00. OMNICANE Limited plummeted by 0.72 percent to trade at MUR 68.50 and CIEL Limited fell by 0.60 percent to end at MUR 6.64.
The DEMEX index ended at 208.04 points after soared by 0.33 points or 0.16 percent. The market capitalization added MUR 80 million to close at MUR 51.153 billion (relative to MUR 51.073 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 3.608 million exchanged in 111,553 traded securities. EUDCOS surged by 1.61 percent to trade at MUR 15.57, ENL Limited (Preference) gained 1.13 percent to settle at MUR 26.80, Paper Con Company Limited grew by 1.01 percent to end MUR 50.00, Constance Hotel went up by 0.82 percent to settle at MUR 36.80 and CIEL Textile Limited jumped by 0.51 percent to trade at MUR 39.20. Whereas, ENL Investment crashed by 0.10 percent to trade at MUR 49.15.
