Mauritius Equity Markets | 31 Aug 2015 : The bull returns to the Stock Exchange of Mauritius, investors gain US$5.3 million
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — Stock Exchange equity trading ended today’s trading session by gaining a market capitalization of MUR 189 million (US$ 5.3 million) to end at MUR 215.005 billion relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 214.816 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) slightly soared by 0.09 percent or 1.70 points to close at 1,930.70 points but SEM10 index ended at 367.98 points after marginally sagging by 0.02 percent or 0.09 points.
The overall total volume trade ended at 33.197 million (a rise relative to volume of 4.313 million recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 67.312 million (a rise relative to MUR 47.001 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 32.358 million (about 97 percent of total volume) at MUR 27.180 million and CIEL Limited registered 278,056 traded stocks amounted to MUR 1.891 million. Ireland Blyth had 158,321 stocks at MUR 18.207 million and Sun Resort recorded a total volume of 152,380 shares at MUR 5.943 million. New Mauritius Hotels also recorded 65,195 shares at MUR 1.206 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 26 traded securities there were 3 price gainers and 5 losers. Swan General Limited emerged as the top gainer by gaining 8.37 percent to end at MUR 466.00, LOTTOTECH Limited ended at MUR 4.05 after surging by 2.27 percent and New Mauritius Hotels ended at MUR 18.50 after surging by 0.27 percent.
On the contrary, the loser was Caudan Limited with a price reduction of 2.31 percent to trade at MUR 1.27 and Gamma Civic sagged by 1.15 percent to conclude at MUR 25.90. Air Mauritius Limited tumbled by 0.94 percent to end at MUR 10.50. Vivo Energy Limited settled at MUR 0.83 after plunging by MUR 1.00 or 0.12 percent and MCB Group went down by 0.12 to settle at MUR 209.00.
The DEMEX index ended at 204.39 points after collapsed by 0.37 points or 0.18 percent. The market capitalization lost by MUR 88 million to close at MUR 48.576 (relative to MUR 48.664 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 47.995 million exchanged in 522,968 traded securities. Constance Hotel gained 1.37 percent to end at MUR 37.00 but Medical & Surgical Centre Limited closed at MUR 2.16 after gaining 10.00 percent.
