PORT LOUIS, Mauritius, Capital Markets in Africa — Stock Exchange of Mauritius equity market capitalization closed at MUR 215.847 after losing MUR 222 million (US$6.2 million) relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 216.069 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) slacked by 0.10 percent or 1.91 points to close at 1,938.25 points and SEM10 index closed at 369.53 points after adding 0.18 percent or 0.68 points.
From the market activity viewpoint, the overall total volume trade ended at 7,805,450 (a fall relative to volume of 14,120,943 recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 96.219 million (a rise relative to MUR 71.019 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 4,672,000 (about 60 percent of total volume) at MUR 4.066 million and CIEL Limited registered 1,397,500 traded stocks amounted to MUR 9.503 million. New Mauritius Hotels had 1,150,600 at MUR 21.277 million and MCB Group recorded a total volume of 250,835 shares at MUR 52.675 million. CIM Financial Services also recorded 183,000 shares at MUR 1.556 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, out of 20 traded securities there were 2 price gainers and 3 price losers, hence the market sentiment ends negative. Lottotech Limited added 3.90 percent to end at MUR 4.00 and New Mauritius Hotels ended at MUR 18.50 after surging by 0.54 percent
On the losers’ chart, Rokcastle Global Real Estate ended at US$ 2.17 after sagging by 3.12 percent. SBM Holdings fell by 1.15 percent to settle at MUR 0.86 and Ireland Byth Limited declined by 0.22 percent to close at MUR 114.75.
The DEMEX index ended at 203.92 points after gaining 0.11 points or 0.06 percent. The market capitalization added MUR 28 million to close at MUR 48.466 billion (relative to MUR 48.438 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 2.221 million exchanged in 142,765 traded securities. United Investment surged by 2.76 percent to end at MUR 13.05 but Medine Limited closed at MUR 64.25 after losing 0.39 percent.
