Mauritius Equity Watch | 03 August 2015: Mauritius equities start on bearish note, … market cap loses MUR 196 million
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — The Stock Exchange of Mauritius began the week and month on a bearish note. The market capitalization went down MUR 196 million to close at MUR 219.349 billion relative to a previous market capitalization of MUR 219.545 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) marginally lost 0.09 percent or 1.77 points to close at 1,972.73 points. SEM10 index closed at 378.38 points after slightly falling by 0.15 points or 0.04 percent.
Today’s overall total volume trade was recorded at 15.572 million (an increase of 449 percent compared to 2.839 million recorded on previous trading session). The total valued traded was recorded at MUR 59.909 million (a slight increase relative to MUR 59.204 million recorded at previous trading sessions).
The most active traded securities by volume were SBM Holdings recorded 14.936 million (almost 79 percent of total volume) at MUR 13.293 million and MCB Group registered 150,925 traded stocks amounting to MUR 33.959 million. ROGERS traded 148,493 stocks at MUR 4.442 million and Mauritius Development Investment Trust had a total volume of 137,207 shares at MUR 700,069. CIEL Limited also recorded 55,100 shares at MUR 379,088 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 25 traded securities there were 2 price advancers and 9 price decliners as well as 14 price stayers. The two price gainers were Lux Island Resorts Mauritius which added 0.41 percent to end at MUR 61.75 and ROGER which closed at MUR 30.00 after adding 0.33 percent.
On the contrary, the loser was Mauritius Development Investment Trust with a price reduction of 2.67 percent to trade at MUR 5.10. Likewise, POLICY tumbled by 1.69 percent to settle at MUR 7.00 and LOTTOTECH Mauritius fell by 1.57 percent to end at MUR 5.02. Ireland Blyth closed at MUR 114.00 after plummeting by 0.87 percent and New Mauritius Hotels plunged by 0.53 percent with a closing price of MUR18.90.
The DEMEX index marginally fell by 0.03 points or 0.02 percent to close at 205.30 points. The market capitalization slightly plunged by MUR 59 million to close at MUR 48.792 (relative to MUR 48.800 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 491,103 exchanged in 129,461 traded securities. SIT Land Hedging Option closed at MUR 12,500 after adding 4.17 percent and CIEL Textile Limited advanced by 0.52 percent to end at MUR 38.40. Conversely, Universal Investment tumbled by 0.76 percent to trade at MUR 13.00 and EUDCOS plummeted by 0.71 percent to close MUR 13.90.
