Mauritius Equity Watch | 06 Aug 2015: Blood stains on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius … index marginally falls by 0.05%
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — After two days in the north pole the equity returned to the south pole at the end of today’s trading session. The market capitalization plunged by MUR 103 million to close at MUR 220.332 billion relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 220.435 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) slightly fell by 0.05 percent or 0.93 points to close at 1,981.57 points and the SEM10 index closed at 381.22 points after marginally plummeting by 0.02 points or 0.01 percent.
Today’s overall total volume trade was very weak and ended at 655,610 (a reduction of 1958 percent compared to 13.502 million recorded on previous trading session). The total valued traded was recorded at MUR 15.963 million (a significant decrease relative to MUR 100.371 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were LOTTOTECH recorded 210,111 (almost 32 percent of total volume) at MUR 930,913 and CIEL Limited registered 116,605 traded stocks amounted to MUR 832,606. Mauritius Oil & Refineries traded 60,000 stocks at MUR 1.650 million and SMB Holdings had a total volume of 57,900 shares at MUR 52,110 million. Lux Island Resorts also recorded 48,700 shares at MUR 3.065 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 27 traded securities there were 6 price advancers and 7 price decliners as well as 14 are price stayers. The price gainers were Swan General Limited advanced by 7.50 percent to end at MUR 430.00 and Lux Island Resorts closed at MUR 63.00 after adding 1.61 percent. Also, ENL Land Limited surged by 0.9 percent to end at MUR 51.00 and Mauritius Union Assurance accelerated by 0.71 percent to settle at MUR 71.00. Automatic System Limited closed at MUR 28.90 after gaining 0.35 percent.
On the contrary, the loser was LOTTOTECH Limited with a price reduction of 19.35 percent to trade at MUR 4.00. Likewise, POLICY Mauritius tumbled by 1.43 percent to settle at MUR 6.90 and New Mauritius Hotels fell by 1.06 percent to end at MUR 18.70.
The DEMEX index slightly gained 0.05 points or 0.02 percent to close at 206.04 points. The market capitalization added MUR 11 million to close at MUR 48.969 (relative to MUR 48.958 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 18.158 million exchanged in 226,532 traded securities. EUDCOS closed at MUR 14.00 after gaining 0.72 percent.
