Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — Equities trading on the floor of Stock Exchange of Mauritius continued to tread in the red district. The market capitalization plunged by MUR 676 million to close at MUR 219.656 billion relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 220.332 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) slightly fell by 0.31 percent or 6.05 points to close at 1,975.49 points and the SEM10 index closed at 379.70 points after plummeting by 1.51 points or 0.40 percent.
Today’s overall total volume trade ended at 2.452 million (an increase of 274 percent compared to 655,610 recorded on previous trading session). The total valued traded was recorded at MUR 34.304 million (a rise relative to MUR 15.963 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 1.114 million (almost 45 percent of total volume) at MUR 991,646 and New Mauritius Hotels registered 584,805 traded stocks amounted to MUR 11.109 million. Mauritius Development Investment Trust traded 175,806 stocks at MUR 903,752 and LOTTOTECH Limited had a total volume of 160,946 shares at MUR 643,614. Mauritius Oil & Refineries also recorded 100,003 shares at MUR 2.750 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 31 traded securities there were 6 price advancers and 10 price decliners as well as 5 are price stayers. The price gainers were ENL Land Limited gained 1.96 percent to end at MUR 52.00 and Mauritius Union Assurance closed at MUR 72.00 after adding 1.41 percent. Also, TERRA Limited surged by 0.84 percent to end at MUR 30.00 and Roger Limited accelerated by 0.82 percent to settle at MUR 30.85. New Mauritius Hotel closed at MUR 18.80 after gaining 0.53 percent.
On the contrary, the loser was FINCORP with a price reduction of 2.49 percent to trade at MUR 19.60. Likewise, LUX Island Resorts tumbled by 1.59 percent to settle at MUR 62.00 and BLUELIFE Limited fell by 1.44 percent to end at MUR 4.10. SBM Holdings Limited ended at MUR 0.89 after plunging by MUR 0.01 or 1.11 percent.
The DEMEX index slightly fell by 0.01 points or 0.02 percent to close at 206.02 points. The market capitalization lost MUR 6 million to close at MUR 48.969 (relative to MUR 48.969 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 973,199 exchanged in 47,406 traded securities. ENL Investment closed at MUR 50.00 after gaining 4.71 percent. However, BHARAT Telecommunication tumbled by 35.88 percent to end at MUR 13.95 and Mauritius Secondary Industries Limited 5.55 percent to trade at MUR 31.50.
