Mauritius Equity Watch | 10 Aug 2015 : Bear visit Mauritius equity markets … pull back by CMPL, CIM Financial stocks
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — Mauritius equities opened the week on a bearish mood and the market capitalization lost MUR 8 million to close at MUR 219.648 billion relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 219.656 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) plunged by 0.46 percent or 9.06 points to close at 1,966.43 points and the SEM10 index closed at 377.57 points after plummeting by 2.14 points or 0.56 percent.
Today’s overall total volume trade ended at 12.113 million (an increase of 394 percent compared to 2.452 million recorded on previous trading session). The total valued traded was recorded at MUR 29.619 million (a fall relative to MUR 34.304 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 11.690 million (almost 96 percent of total volume) at MUR 10.404 million and MCB Group registered 61,456 traded stocks amounted to MUR 13.459 million. POLICY traded 58,113 stocks at MUR 399,819 and LOTTOTECH Limited had a total volume of 58,008 shares at MUR 231,928. New Mauritius Hotels also recorded 56,651 shares at MUR 1.065 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 37 traded securities there were 5 price advancers and 10 price decliners as well as 22 are price stayers. The price gainers were GAMMAC CIVIC gained 1.82 percent to end at MUR 28.00 and Automated System Limited closed at MUR 29.10 after adding 0.69 percent. Also, LOTTOTECH Limited surged by 0.50 percent to end at MUR 4.00 and Mauritius Development Investment Trust advanced by 0.49 percent to settle at MUR 5.18. ALTEO Limited closed at MUR 31.10 by adding 0.32 percent.
On the contrary, the loser was Compagnie des Magasins Populaires Ltée with a price reduction of 5.88 percent to trade at MUR 16.00. Similarly, CIM Financial Services tumbled by 2.33 percent to settle at MUR 8.40 and MCB Group fell by 1.69 percent to end at MUR 218.00. Plastic Industries Mauritius ended at MUR 70.00 after plunging by MUR 1.01 or 1.41 percent.
The DEMEX index slightly rose by 0.05 points or 0.03 percent to close at 206.07 points. The market capitalization gained MUR 7 million to close at MUR 48.976 (relative to MUR 48.969 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 948,664 exchanged in 218,298 traded securities. ASCENCIA CLASS B gained 2.14 percent to end at MUR 14.30 and ENL Investment closed at MUR 50.50 after gaining 1.00 percent. However, SODIA fell by 5.88 percent to end at MUR 0.32 and GAZ Industriels went down by 4.76 percent to trade at MUR 100.00.
