Mauritius Equity Watch | 10 July 2015: Mauritius stock markets end the week in red, give up MUR 461 Mill down
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius equity markets ended the week on a bearish note after shedding MUR 461 million this week. The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) fell by 0.21 percent or 4.15 points to close at 1,960.27 points and the SEM10 index traded at 372.37 levels, after slumped by 0.09 percent or 0.35 points.
The market capitalization was recorded at MUR 217.938 billion, after falling by MUR 461 million (relative to MUR 218.399 billion recorded at previous trading session). The overall total volume trade was recorded at 76.762 million (vs. 8.827 million recorded yesterday) with total valued traded at MUR 70.459 million, stronger that than yesterday’s trading session figures.
The most active traded securities were SBM Holdings Mauritius by exchanging 38.012 million with total value traded of MUR 33.101 million and New Mauritius Hotels Rights registered 7.640 million securities at MUR 7.640 million. Mauritius Oil Refineries Limited had 495,500 traded stocks at MUR 13.626 million and The Mauritius Development Investment Trust Co. Limited ended with a total volume of 245,038 at MUR 1.299 million.
From the market sentiment/breath perspectives, there were 6 price gainers and 8 price laggards. The price gainers were FINCORP Investment Limited gained 2.44 percent to end at MUR 21.00 and Mauritius Chemical & Fertilizer Industry Limited surged by 1.78 percent to close at MUR 22.90. Likewise, ENL Land Limited ended at MUR 46.75 after advancing by 1.63 percent and Promotion & Development Limited Mauritius accelerated by 1.05 percent with a closing price of MUR 96.00.
On the laggards’ region, Mauritius Union Assurance tops the losers’ league table, by falling by 5.14 percent to trade at MUR 73.75 and the followed by CIM Financial Services Mauritius which summersaulted by 3.30 percent to trade at MUR 8.80. Also, ENL LAND Limited (Preference) went down by 2.09 percent to settle at MUR 42.10 and ROGER plunged by 1.82 percent to end at MUR 29.75. Also, United Basalt Products closed at MUR 83.75, by falling by 1.47 percent.
The DEMEX index ended red, by losing 0.07 percent or 0.14 points to close at 207.19 points. The market capitalization was recorded at MUR 49.241 billion, by losing MUR 34 million from MUR 49.275 billion recorded at previous trading session. Total value traded was MUR 5.069 million exchanged in 24,522 traded securities. COVIFRA went down 2.74 percent to trade at MUR 7.10 and Forward Investment And Development Enterprises Limited slumped by 2.70 percent to close at MUR 72, ENL LTD (Preference) ended at MUR 29.70, after falling by 1.00 percent and CIEL TEXTILE LTD went down by 0.13 percent to end at MUR 37.90.
