Mauritius Equity Watch | 11 Aug 2015 : Negative trends continued on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius, market cap US$20 million down
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — Negative trends continued on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius and the market capitalization lost MUR 1.24 billion (US$20 million) to close at MUR 218.408 billion relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 219.648 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) plunged by 0.11 percent or 2.16 points to close at 1,964.27 points and the SEM10 index closed at 375.77 points after losing 1.79 points or 0.48 percent.
Today’s overall total volume trade ended at 17.108 million (an increase of 41 percent compared to 12.113 million recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 41.238 million (a rise relative to MUR 29.619 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 15.628 million (almost 91 percent of total volume) at MUR 13.909 million and CIM Financials registered 660,923 traded stocks amounted to MUR 5.552 million. New Mauritius Hotels Preference traded 353,000 stocks at MUR 3.883 million and LOTTOTECH Limited had a total volume of 143,782 shares at MUR 580,147. New Mauritius Hotels also recorded 65,880 shares at MUR 1.239 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 31 traded securities there were 9 price advancers and 5 price decliners as well as 17 reminded unchanged. The price gainers were LOTTOTECH Limited gained 12.50 percent to end at MUR 4.50 and Automated System Limited closed at MUR 32.00 after adding 9.97 percent. Also, GAMMAC CIVIC surged by 7.14 percent to end at MUR 30.00 and Air Mauritius Limited advanced by 1.82 percent to settle at MUR 11.20. Lux Island Resorts Limited closed at MUR 62.50 by adding 0.81 percent.
On the contrary, the loser was MCB Group with a price reduction of 1.38 percent to trade at MUR 215.00. Similarly, TERRA Limited tumbled by0.83 percent to settle at MUR 29.75 and ENL Land Limited fell by 0.48 percent to end at MUR 51.75. Sun Resorts Limited ended at MUR 39.60 after plunging by MUR 0.01 or 0.25 percent.
The DEMEX index rose by 0.86 points or 0.42 percent to close at 206.93 points. The market capitalization gained MUR 205 million to close at MUR 49.181 (relative to MUR 48.976 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 1.788 million exchanged in 47,966 traded securities. Phoenix Investment added 12.00 percent to end at MUR 280.00 and SODIA closed at MUR 0.33 after gaining 3.12 percent. Likewise, ENL Investment Limited closed at MUR 51.00 after adding 0.99 percent and LES MOULINS surged by 0.67 percent to trade at MUR 151.00. However, Bharat Telecommunication plunged by6.14 percent to end at MUR 13.00.
