Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — Bear continued to torment the equity traders on Stock Exchange of Mauritius trading floor. The market capitalization lost MUR 312 billion (US$5 million) to close at MUR 218.096 billion relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 218.408 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) sagged by 0.14 percent or 2.81 points to close at 1,961.46 points and the SEM10 index closed at 374.85 points after losing 2.81 points or 0.41 percent.
Today’s overall total volume trade ended at 33.331 million (an increase of 95 percent compared to 17.108 million recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 71.870 million (a rise relative to MUR 41.238 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 29.632 million (almost 89 percent of total volume) at MUR 26.273 million and ENL Land Limited registered 222,400 traded stocks amounted to MUR 11.564 million. CIM Financials traded 126,000 stocks at MUR 1.080 million and LOTTOTECH Limited had a total volume of 101,500 shares at MUR 412,914. MCB Group also recorded 57,930 shares at MUR 12.239 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 22 traded securities there were 6 price advancers and 5 price decliners as well as 11 remained unchanged. The price gainers were Air Mauritius Limited gained 4.02 percent to end at MUR 11.65 and Roger Limited closed at MUR 32.00 after adding 3.23 percent. Also, New Mauritius Hotels Preference surged by 2.73 percent to end at MUR 11.30 and CIM Financial Services advanced by 2.38 percent to settle at MUR 8.60. ENL Land Limited closed at MUR 51.75 by adding 0.48 percent.
On the contrary, the loser was LOTTOTECH Limited with a price reduction of 6.67 percent to trade at MUR 420.00. Similarly, MCB Group tumbled by 1.40 percent to settle at MUR 4.20 and MCFI fell by 0.90 percent to end at MUR 22.00. Sun Resorts Limited ended at MUR 39.50 after plunging by MUR 0.01 or 0.25 percent.
The DEMEX index fell by 0.05 points or 0.02 percent to close at 206.88 points. The market capitalization gained MUR 13 million to close at MUR 49.168 (relative to MUR 49.181 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 8.162 million exchanged in 292,569 traded securities. SODIA closed at MUR 0.34 after gaining 3.02 percent. However, BYCHEMECX plunged by 5.03 percent to end at MUR 8.30 and CIEL TEXTILE Limited ended at MUR 38.40 after adding 0.26 percent.
