Mauritius Equity Watch | 13 Aug 2015 : The Bull rescues equity traders from the bear, indices and market cap surge
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — On Thursday the Bull rescued equity traders on Stock Exchange of Mauritius trading floor from the Bear. The market capitalization gained MUR 476 billion (US$7 million) to close at MUR 218.572 billion relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 218.096 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) surged by 0.22 percent or 4.29 points to close at 1,965.75 points and the SEM10 index closed at 374.85 points after adding 1.26 points or 0.34 percent.
Today’s overall total volume trade ended at 9.097 million (a fall of 266 percent compared to 33.331 million recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 63.974 million (a rise relative to MUR 71.870 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 8.035 million (almost 88 percent of total volume) at MUR 7.140 million and CIEL Limited registered 356,478 traded stocks amounted to MUR 2.453 million. MCB Group traded 186,345 stocks at MUR 39.948 million and GAMMA CIVIC had a total volume of 150,000 shares at MUR 4.275 million. Sun Resorts Limited also recorded 75,200 shares at MUR 2.933 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 30 traded securities there were 11 price advancers and 7 price decliners as well as 12 remained unchanged. The price gainers were Automated System Limited added 15.62 percent to end at MUR 37.00 and Lottotech Limited closed at MUR 4.48 after adding 6.67 percent. Also, Air Mauritius Limited surged by 2.58 percent to end at MUR 11.95 and Bluelife Limited advanced by 2.44 percent to settle at MUR 4.20. Rogers Limited closed at MUR 32.50 after surging by 1.56 percent.
On the contrary, the loser was Gamma Civic Limited with a price reduction of 5.00 percent to trade at MUR 28.50. Similarly, Sun Resorts Limited tumbled by 1.27 percent to settle at MUR 39.00 and SBM Holdings fell by 1.12 percent to end at MUR 0.88. Mauritius Oil & Refineries ended at MUR 27.25 after plunging by MUR 0.25 or 0.91 percent.
The DEMEX index fell by 0.48 points or 0.23 percent to close at 206.40 points. The market capitalization lost MUR 114 million to close at MUR 49.054 (relative to MUR 49.168 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 5 million exchanged in 225,966 traded securities. Bharat Telecommunication plunged by 20.00 percent to end at MUR 10.40 and SIT Land Hedging Option ended at MUR 12,000 by losing 6.25 percent. Novus (fell by 3.20 percent at MUR 7.26), Constance Hotel Limited (fell by 1.25 percent at MUR 36.50) and Hotelest Limited (lost 0.40 percent to close at MUR 37.05)
