Mauritius Equity Watch | 14 Aug 2015 : Equity trading on the Stock Exchange of ended on mixed mood … SEMDEX down but SEM10 up
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — Equity trading on the Stock Exchange of ended on mixed mood today. The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) plunged by 0.04 percent or 0.73 points to close at 1,965.02 points but the SEM10 index closed at 376.36 points after gaining 0.25 points or 0.07 percent.
The market capitalization fell by MUR 81 million (US$1.2 million) to close at MUR 218.491 billion relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 218.572 billion.
Today’s overall total volume trade ended at 5.689 million (a fall of 37 percent compared to 9.097 million recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 50.568 million (a fall relative to MUR 63.974 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 4.704 million (almost 83 percent of total volume) at MUR 4.097 million and New Mauritius Hotel registered 207,640 traded stocks amounted to MUR 3.883 million. CIM Financial Services had 207,500 stocks at MUR 1.826 million and Lux Island Resorts recorded a total volume of 117,200 shares at MUR 7.383 million. MCB Group also recorded 111,096 shares at MUR 23.937 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 27 traded securities there were 6 price advancers and 10 price decliners as well as 11 remained unchanged. The price gainers were CIM Financial Services surged by 2.07 percent to end at MUR 8.86 and Bluelife Limited closed at MUR 4.22 after adding 0.48 percent. Also, MCB Group surged by 0.47 percent to end at MUR 216.00 and Lux Island Resorts advanced by 0.40 percent to settle at MUR 63.00. Mauritius Union Assurance closed at MUR 72.35 after surging by 0.35 percent.
On the contrary, the loser was Air Mauritius Limited with a price reduction of 7.95 percent to trade at MUR 11.00. Similarly, Lottotech Limited tumbled by 6.25 percent to settle at MUR 4.20 and PIM fell by 3.93 percent to end at MUR 67.25. ENL Commercial ended at MUR 20.35 after plunging by MUR 0.65 or 3.01 percent.
The DEMEX index plunged by 0.66 points or 0.32 percent to close at 205.74 points. The market capitalization lost MUR 157 million to close at MUR 48.897 (relative to MUR 49.054 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 6.845 million exchanged in 117,665 traded securities. Excelsior United Development Companies Limited and Vital Water Bottling Company added 5.00 percent and 0.50 percent to end at MUR 14.70 and MUR 50.25 respectively. Phoenix Investment plunged by 10.71 percent to end at MUR 250.00 and Tropical Paradise Company Limited ended at MUR 5.50 by losing 8.33 percent and Paper Converting Company Limited fell by 1.00 percent at MUR 49.50.
