Mauritius Equity Watch | 16 July 2015: Investors lost MUR 21 million on Mauritius shares … both indices 0.01% marginally down
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius stocks ended in red at end of today’s trading session. As a result, the Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) tumbled by 0.01 percent or 0.18 points to settle at 1,950.84 points and the SEM10 index ended at 371.20 points by giving away 0.03 points or 0.01 percent.
The market capitalization went down by MUR 21 million to settle at MUR 216.888 billion (relative to yesterday’s market capitalization of MUR 216.909). The overall total volume trade was recorded at 5.917 million (a decrease when compared to 10.697 million recorded yesterday). The total valued traded was recorded at MUR 19.488 million (a decrease when compared to MUR 50.537 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SBM Holdings Mauritius had 5.650 million at MUR 4.916 million and POLICY recorded 58,000 traded stocks amounted to MUR 406,000. CIEL Limited traded 50,400 stocks at MUR 351,792 and MCB Group ended with a total volume of 109,400 at MUR 8.627 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among 24 traded securities there were 3 upward price movers and 5 downward price movers. NEW FRONTIER tops the price gainers’ chart by moving up by 14.29 percent with a closing price of MUR 1.20. CIM Financial Services ended at MUR 8.50 after advancing by 1.19 percent and MCB Group ended at MUR 211.50 after adding 0.12 percent.
Mauritius Union Assurance emerged as the biggest loser to close at MUR 73.00 by losing 1.35 percent. Other price losers were New Mauritius Holdings (somersaulted by 0.77 percent to trade at MUR 19.35), FINCORP Limited (slumped by 0.73 percent to settle at MUR 20.35) and United Basalt Products Limited (plunged by 0.61 percent to end at MUR 81.00). In addition, LOTTOTECH Limited rose by 0.39 to conclude at MUR 5.16.
The DEMEX index returned continued on green path today, by adding 0.06 percent or 0.11 points to close at 207.77 points. The market capitalization rose by MUR 27 million to close at MUR 49.353 (against MUR 49.353 billion recorded yesterday). The total value traded was MUR 266.819 exchanged in 27,036 traded securities. LIVERSTOCK added 2.13 percent to trade at MUR 24.00 and CIEL TEXTILE Limited surged by 0.26 percent to close at MUR 38.00. On the other hand, SIT Land Holdings Limited (Options) plunged by 1.60 percent to close MUR 12,300.00.
