Mauritius Equity Watch | 17 Aug 2015 : Bull returns to the Stock Exchange of ended on mixed mood … indices up and market cap MUR 612 million up
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) opened the week by gaining 0.28 percent or 5.43 points to close at 1,970.45 points and the SEM10 index closed at 377.24 points by adding 0.89 points or 0.24 percent.
The market capitalization surged by MUR 612 million (US$9.3 million) to close at MUR 219.103 billion relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 218.491 billion.
Today’s overall total volume trade ended at 38.718 million (a rise of 581 percent compared to 5.689 million recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 140.742 million (an increase relative to MUR 50.568 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 36.363 million (almost 94 percent of total volume) at MUR 31.734 million and CIEL Limited registered 562,300 traded stocks amounted to MUR 3.880 million. Terra Limited had 413,415 stocks at MUR 12.032 million and New Mauritius Hotel recorded a total volume of 273,979 shares at MUR 5.123 million. MCB Group also recorded 210,255 shares at MUR 45.478 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 32 traded securities there were 11 price advancers and 8 price decliners as well as 13 remained unchanged. The price gainers were Automatic System Limited advanced by 10.81 percent to end at MUR 41.00 and Omincane Limited closed at MUR 72.00 after gaining 4.35 percent. Also, Alteo Limited surged by 3.05 percent to end at MUR 32.10 and Terra Limited climbed by 1.72 percent to settle at MUR 29.50. Bluelife Limited closed at MUR 4.28 after rising by 1.42 percent.
On the contrary, the loser was Compagnie des Magasins Populaires Ltée (CMPL) with a price reduction of 7.50 percent to trade at MUR 14.80. National Investment Trust tumbled by 5.00 percent to settle at MUR 40.85 and SBM Holdings went down by 1.14 percent to end at MUR 0.87. POLICY Mauritius closed at MUR 6.84 after decreasing by MUR 0.04 or 0.58 percent.
The DEMEX index plunged by 0.09 points or 0.04 percent to close at 205.65 points. The market capitalization lost MUR 21 million to close at MUR 48.876 (relative to MUR 48.897 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 16.278 million exchanged in 510,066 traded securities. Excelsior United Development Companies Limited added 2.04 percent to end at MUR 15.00. Whereas Cargohub Capital Limited plunged by 4.61 percent to end at MUR 30.00 and Livestock Feed Limited ended at MUR 23.60 by losing 2.07 percent and ENL Investment fell by 0.98 percent at MUR 50.50.
