Mauritius Equity Watch | 19 Aug 2015 : The Bear surrenders to the Bull , SEMDEX index 0.16% up
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — At last the Bear surrendered to the Bull at the end of today’s equity trading session. The equity market capitalization grew by MUR 320 million (US$5 million) to close at MUR 219.336 billion relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 219.656 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) increase by 0.16 percent or 3.16 points to close at 1,969.99 points. SEM10 index ended at 376.92 points after advancing by 0.63 points or 0.17 percent.
Market activities today were thinner relative to yesterday’s. The overall total volume trade ended at 919,446 (a deduction relative to volume of 77.096 million recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 30.112 million (a fall relative to MUR 86.414 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were CIEL Limited recorded 191,210 (about 21 percent of total volume) at MUR 1.316 million and Lux Island Resorts registered 172,714 traded stocks amounted to MUR 10.967 million. SMB Holdings had 137,900 stocks at MUR 119,973 and ENL Land Limited recorded a total volume of 120,030 shares at MUR 6.212 million. Lottotech Limited also recorded 60,400 shares at MUR 240,616.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 29 traded securities there were 7 price advancers and 6 price decliners as well as 16 remained unchanged. The price gainers were Automated System Limited grew by 12.20 percent to end at MUR 46.00 and FINCORP closed at MUR 20.10 after gaining 2.55 percent. Alteo Limited also surged by 2.17 percent to end at MUR 33.00 and National Investment Trust climbed by 1.59 percent to settle at MUR 41.50. SBM Holdings also advanced by 1.16 percent to end at MUR 0.97.
On the contrary, the loser was ENL Land Limited with a price reduction of 1.92 percent to trade at MUR 5100. Lottotech Limited sagged by 1.25 percent to conclude at MUR 31.60 and ENL Land Limited (Preference) fell by 1.10 percent to end at MUR 40.50. CIM Financial settled at MUR 8.80 after sliding by MUR 0.06 or 0.68 percent.
The DEMEX index fell by 0.22 points or 0.11 percent to close at 206.19 points. The market capitalization declined by MUR 51 million to close at MUR 49,004 (relative to MUR 49,055 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 4.898 million exchanged in 56,865 traded securities. Medine Limited sagged by 0.75 percent to end at MUR 66.50.
