Mauritius Equity Watch | 2 July 2015: Mauritius equity market stays in red territory, MUR 758 million down
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius equity markets kept yesterday bearish mood at the end of today’s trading session. The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) plunged by 0.35 percent or 6.82 points to close 1,966.19 points and the SEM10 index tumbled by 0.32 percent or 1.20 points to end at 373.86 points. The market capitalization further lost MUR 758 million to close at MUR 218.596 billion (as against MUR 219.354 billion recorded at yesterday’s trading session). The overall total volume trade was recorded at 4.337 million and total valued traded was recorded at MUR 19.968 million, lower than yesterday’s values.
The most active traded securities were SBM Holdings Limited with 4.054 million volume and total value traded of MUR 3.649 million and LUX ISLAND RESORTS recorded 60,842 traded securities with MUR 3.818 million value. Equally, NEW Mauritius Hotels Limited had 60,420 traded stocks and turnover recorded at MUR 1.211 million and VIVO Energy ended with a volume of 30,110 traded shares with total value traded of MUR 3.648 million.
The market sentiment was negative today, as the market breadth (advancers/decliners ratio) calculated at 0.38x with 4 price advancers and 10 price decliners. On the advancers’ table were Phoenix Beverage Limited Mauritius gained 2.86 percent to close at MUR 360.00 and ALTEO Limited rose by 1.68 percent to settle at MUR 30.20 and FINCORP Limited climbed by 0.99 percent to end at MUR 20.50. BLUELIFE Limited ended at MUR 4.60, by gaining 0.88 percent.
On the decliners’ side, VIVO Energy Limited went down by 5.47 percent to trade at MUR 121.00 and OMNICANE Limited plunged by 2.70 percent to trade at MUR 72.00. Likewise, New Mauritius Hotels plummeted by 2.44 percent to close at MUR 20.00 and INNODIS Limited tumbled by 1.96 percent to close at MUR 50.00.
However, the DEMEX index slightly gained 0.30 percent or 0.62 points to close at 207.46 points and market capitalization of MUR 49.306 billion, by slightly adding MUR 149 million and total value traded of MUR 4.765 million exchanged in 178,526 traded securities. MEDINE added by 3.08 percent to trade at MUR 67.00. On the other hand, SODIA and ENL Limited (P) went down by 8.57 percent to close at MUR 0.32 and 2.63 percent to end at MUR 29.60 respectively.
