Mauritius Equity Watch | 22 July 2015: SEDMEX adds 0.02%, SEM10 up by 0.06% but DEMEX index fall by 0.05%
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) surged by 0.02 percent or 0.29 points to close at 1,953.19 points and the SEM10 index closed at 372.90 points by adding 0.22 points or 0.06 percent.
In the same note, the market capitalization settled at MUR 217.151 billion (relative to yesterday’s market capitalization of MUR 217.118 billion) by gaining MUR 33 million. The overall total volume trade was registered at 4.750 million (a decrease relative to to 24.1140 million recorded yesterday). The total valued traded was recorded at MUR 60.547 million (a reduction relative to MUR 92.666 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SBM Holdings Mauritius had 3.260 million at MUR 2.836 million and POLICY recorded 642,600 traded stocks amounted to MUR 4.414 million. LUX Island Resorts traded 599,430 stocks at MUR 36.865 million and CIEL Limited had total volume of 72,994 shares at MUR 504,772.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, out of the 26 traded securities there were 3 price gainers and 6 price decliners. The three prices advancers were National Investment Trust Limited advanced by 2.44 percent with a closing price of MUR 42.00, United Docks Limited closed at MUR 67.00 after gaining 1.52 percent and MCB Group Limited ended at MUR 216.00 by adding 0.23 percent.
On the losing side, Mauritius Chemical & Fertilizer Industry Limited emerged as the top loser to close at MUR 22.50 by decreasing by 1.75 percent. Other price losers were ENL Commercial plunged by 0.94 percent to trade at MUR 21.00, FINCORP plummeted by 0.73 percent to settle at MUR 20.35 and Sun Resorts Limited tumbled by 0.72 percent to end at MUR 41.40. In addition, ALTEO Limited lost 0.31 percent to conclude at MUR 32.00 and POLICY slumped by 0.29 percent to end at MUR 6.86.
The DEMEX index marginally fell by 0.05 percent or 0.10 points to close at 207.40 points. Likewise, the market capitalization fell by MUR 24 million to close at MUR 49.292 (against MUR 49.316 billion recorded yesterday). The total value traded was MUR 5.380 million exchanged in 141,445 traded securities. SODIA added 6.06 percent to trade at MUR 0.35 and PHOENIX Investment surged by 4.17 percent to close at MUR 250.00. However, ABC Motors plummeted by 16.17 percent to close MUR 70.00.
