Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — Positive momentum continued on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius today. The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) marginally added 0.01 percent or 0.24 points to close at 1,953.78 points and the SEM10 index closed at 373.49 points by gaining 0.42 points or 0.11 percent.
The market capitalization settled at MUR 217.216 billion (relative to yesterday’s market capitalization of MUR 217.189 billion) by gaining MUR 27 million. The overall total volume trade was registered at 13.369 million (a rise relative to 8.605 million recorded yesterday). The total valued traded was recorded at MUR 27.489 million (a reduction relative to MUR 33.379 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SBM Holdings Mauritius had 12.891 million at MUR 11.224 million and LUX Island Resorts recorded 93,050 traded stocks amounted to MUR 5.727 million. POLICY traded 79,700 stocks at MUR 546,742 and CIM Financials Services got a total volume of 76,060 shares at MUR 650,650. News Mauritius Hotels recorded 60,000 shares at MUR 1.110 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, out of the 27 traded securities there were 6 price gainers and 9 price decliners. The price advancers were Gamma Civic gained 3.32 percent with a closing price of MUR 28.00, CIM Financial Services closed at MUR 8.60 after adding 1.18 percent, SBM Holdings closed at MUR 0.88 after advancing by 1.15 percent and Mauritius Development Investment Trust Limited ended at MUR 5.26 by adding 1.15 percent. FINCORP also surged by 0.74 percent to trade at MUR 20.50.
On the contrary, Phoenix Beverages Limited emerged as the top loser to close at MUR 3.75 by losing 385.00 percent. Other price losers were ENL Land Limited plunged by 2.61 percent to trade at MUR 41.00, BLULIFE Limited plummeted by 2.27 percent to settle at MUR 4.30 and TERRA tumbled by 1.44 percent to end at MUR 30.75. News Mauritius Hotels also declined by 1.33 percent to trade at MUR 18.50.
The DEMEX index marginally added 0.01 points to close at 207.81 points. Likewise, the market capitalization slightly increased by MUR 2 million to close at MUR 49.388 (against MUR 49.386 billion recorded yesterday). The total value traded was MUR 1.904 million exchanged in 1,310,901 traded securities. SODIA added 12.50 percent to trade at MUR 0.36 and Medical & Surgical Centre Limited surged by 1.92 percent to close at MUR 2.65. Also, United Investment gained 1.53 percent to close MUR 13,25.
