Mauritius Equity Watch | 27 Aug 2015 : Bear is the King at the Stock Exchange of Mauritius
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — Mauritius equity markets carried on the downward trends, so at the end of today’s session the equity market capitalization ended at MUR 215.281 billion after sagging by MUR 401 million (US$11.5 million) relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 215.682 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) fell by 0.28 percent or 5.40 points to close at 1,933.17 points and SEM10 index ended at 368.60 points after sagging by 0.36 percent or 1.34 points.
The overall total volume trade ended at 3.933 million (a rise relative to volume of 2.939 million recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 16.299 million (a fall relative to MUR 16.860 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 3.558 million (about 90.5 percent of total volume) at MUR 2.999 million and ENL Land Limited registered 91,600 million traded stocks amounted to MUR 4.603 million. Mauritius Development Investment Trust had 70,815 stocks at MUR 368,327 and CIEL Limited recorded a total volume of 61,397 shares at MUR 412,572. CIM Financials also recorded 58,000 shares at MUR 504,600.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 26 traded securities there were 4 price gainers and 6 losers. Mauritius Development Investment Trust emerged as the top gainer by adding 1.56 percent to end at MUR 5.22 and CIM Financial Services ended at MUR 8.78 by gaining 0.92 percent. CIEL Limited and Lottotech Limited also surged by 0.60 percent and 0.51 percent to settle at MUR 6.74 and MUR 3.96 respectively.
On the contrary, the loser was Mauritius Chemical & Fertilizer Industry with a price reduction of 4.55 percent to trade at MUR 21.00 and Gamma Civic sagged by 2.96 percent to conclude at MUR 26.20 ENL Land Limited (Preference) fell by 1.23 percent to end at MUR 40.00. SBM Holdings settled at MUR 1.18 after plunging by MUR 0.01 or 1.18 percent and MCB Group down by 0.59 to settle at MUR 209.75.
The DEMEX index ended at 205.64 points after marginally rose by 0.07 points or 0.03 percent. The market capitalization went down by MUR 16 million to close at MUR 48.873 (relative to MUR 48.857 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 3.603 million exchanged in 114,487 traded securities. Tropical Paradise (Ordinary) gained 1.82 percent to end at MUR 5.60 and Les Moulins (Preference) closed at MUR 311.00 after gaining 0.32 percent.
