Mauritius Equity Watch | 28 July 2015: Bullish momentum continues on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius … companies add MUR 207 million in value
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — The bullish momentum continued on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius. The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) surged by 0.54 percent or 10.62 points to close at 1,968.92 points and the SEM10 index closed at 377.49 points after adding 3.10 points or 0.83 percent.
The market capitalization recorded MUR 217.925 billion (relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 217.718 billion) by adding MUR 207 million. The overall total volume trade was registered at 1.645 million (a slight reduction relative to 1.952 million recorded on previous trading session). The total valued traded was recorded at MUR 48.474 million (n rise of about 50 percent relative to MUR 31.473 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were CIEL Limited Mauritius recorded 649,000 (almost 39 percent of total volume) at MUR 633,100 and News Mauritius Hotels registered 297,700 traded stocks amounted to MUR 5.689 million. MCB Group traded 143,960 stocks at MUR 31.916 million and POLICY got a total volume of 31,156 shares at MUR 936,790. Mauritius Development Investment Trust also recorded 100,000 shares at MUR 524,000.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, out of the 25 traded securities there were 5 price gainers and 10 price losers as well as 10 remained unchanged. The price advancers were CIM Financial Services Mauritius surged by 2.33 percent at MUR 8.80, New Mauritius Hotels closed at MUR 19.00 after adding 2.15 percent, MCB Group closed at MUR 222.50 by edging up 1.60 percent and SBM Holdings ended at MUR 0.89 with a surge of 1.14 percent. ENL Land Limited also advanced by 1.08 percent to trade at MUR 47.00.
Among the top losers, LOTTOTECH Limited emerged as the top loser by losing 12.14 percent to close at MUR 2.46. The second top loser was Mauritius Union Assurance Limited with a price reduction of 2.78 percent to trade at MUR 70.00. Other laggards were TERRA Limited plummeted by 2.44 percent to settle at MUR 30.00, Mauritius Chemical & Fertilizer Industry Limited fell by 1.33 percent to end at MUR 22.20 and FINCORP tumbled by 1.23 percent to trade at MUR 20.10.
On the contrary, the DEMEX index lost 0.95 points or 0.46 percent to close at 206.87 points. The market capitalization went down by MUR 225 million to close at MUR 49.165 (against MUR 49.390 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 31.993 million exchanged in 1.201 million traded securities. There was no gainer on the DEMEX counter. BHARAT Telecommunication fell by 18.45 percent to trade at MUR 42.00 and Mauritius Cosmetics plunged by 5.04 percent to close at MUR 56.50. Likewise, Tropical Par (Ordinary) plummeted by 3.23 percent to close MUR 6.00 and SIT Land Hedging Option went down by 1.60 percent to settle at MUR 12,300.
