Mauritius Equity Watch | 3 July 2015: Mauritius equity market down by MUR 1.75 billion in the week
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius equity markets ended the week in red. The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) slightly slid by 0.09 percent or 1.75 points to close 1,964.42 points and the SEM10 index narrowly fell 0.01 percent or 0.02 points to end at 373.84 points. The market capitalization fell by MUR 197 million to settle at MUR 218.399 billion (as against MUR 218.596 billion recorded at yesterday’s trading session). The overall total volume trade was recorded at 711,220 and total valued traded was recorded at MUR 12.285 million, lower than previous trading session figures.
The most active traded securities were SBM Holdings Limited by exchanging 178,800 stocks valued at MUR 160,370 and Mauritius Development Investment & Trust registered 151,709 securities with MUR 813,160. On the same mood, LOTTOTECH Mauritius Limited had 131,839 traded stocks at MUR 676,066 and ALTEO Limited ended with a total volume of 70,454 at MUR 2.181 million.
The market sentiment/breath ended in negative today, as the market breadth (advancers/decliners ratio) calculated at 0.38x with 1 price advancers and 8 price decliners. ALTEO Limited was the lone gainer, by gaining 4.30 percent to close at MUR 31.50
On the losers’ table, National Investment Trust Limited shrunk by 4.44 percent to trade at MUR 42.00 and LOTTOTECH Limited went down by 1.92 percent to trade at MUR 5.10. Also, Mauritius Chemical & Fertilizer Industry Limited plummeted by 1.75 percent to close at MUR 22.50 and OMNICANE Limited down by 1.39 percent to close at MUR 71.00. SBM Holdings Limited, closed at MUR 0.89, after losing 1.11 percent from yesterday’s price of MUR 0.90. Other price laggards were CIM FINANCIAL (-0.63 percent at MUR 9.50), Mauritius Union Assurance (-0.32 percent at MUR 77.75) and MCB GROUP (-0.23 percent at MUR 212.50).
The DEMEX index continued on a positive mood, by adding 0.13 percent or 0.27 points to close at 207.73 points and market capitalization of MUR 49.369 billion, by further add MUR 63 million and total value traded of MUR 8.024 million exchanged in 371,546 traded securities. EUDCOS added by 4.32 percent to trade at MUR 14.50, FIDES gained 1.39 percent at MUR 73.00 and ENL Investment Mauritius closed at MUR 47.10, by adding 0.21 percent. On the other hand, SODIA and Southern Cross slumped by 3.12 percent to close at MUR 0.31 and 2.86 percent to end at MUR 6.80 respectively.
