Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — The Stock Exchange of Mauritius ended the week on a very positive note at the end of today’s session. The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) surged by 0.06 percent or 1.12 points to close at 1,974.50 points. SEM10 index closed at 378.53 points after adding 0.16 points or 0.04 percent.
The market capitalization recorded MUR 219.545 billion (relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 219.421 billion) after gaining MUR 124 million.
The overall total volume trade was registered at 2.839 million (a fall relative to 4.195 million recorded on previous trading session). The total valued traded was recorded at MUR 59.204 million (an increase relative to MUR 29.621 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SBM Holdings recorded 2.251 million (almost 79 percent of total volume) at MUR 2.003 million and MCB Group registered 220,601 traded stocks amounted to MUR 49.611 million. CAUDAN traded 154,501 stocks at MUR 205,486 million and Lottotech Limited had a total volume of 57,400 shares at MUR 289,222. CIEL Limited also recorded 33,801 shares at MUR 232,551 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 32 traded securities there were 7 price gainers and 6 price losers as well as 19 remained unchanged. The price advancers were Union Basalt Products surged by 2.50 percent to end at MUR 400, POLICY closed at MUR 7.12 after gaining 1.71 percent and LOTTOTECH Mauritius edged up by1.59 percent to close at MUR 5.10. Mauritius Development Investment Trust also rose by 0.77 percent to end at MUR 5.24 and MCB Group closed at MUR 225.00 after adding 0.77 percent.
On the contrary, the losers were, ALTEO Limited with a price reduction of 3.12 percent to trade at MUR 31.00. Likewise, OMNICANE Limited tumbled by 1.43 percent to settle at MUR 69.00 and GAMMAC CIVIC fell by 1.27 percent to end at MUR 27.15. Sun Resorts closing price was MUR 40.10 by gaining 0.74 percent.
The DEMEX index lost 0.25 points or 0.12 percent to close at 205.33 points. The market capitalization went down by MUR 59 million to close at MUR 48.800 (against MUR 48.859 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 10.537 million exchanged in 233,927 traded securities. Constance Hotel closed at MUR 37.00 after adding 1.37 percent and ENL Limited (Preference) advanced by 0.67 percent to end at MUR 30.00. Conversely, BHARAT Telecommunication fell by 20.00 percent to trade at MUR 21.60 and SIT Land Hedging Option plummeted by 2.44 percent to close MUR 12,000.
