Mauritius Equity Watch | 9 July 2015: Mauritius stock indices stay in red district, Market Cap MUR 578 Mill down
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius equity markets stayed in red district today. The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) plunged by 0.26 percent or 5.20 points to settle at 1,964.43 points and the SEM10 index closed at 372.72 levels, after slumped by 0.27 percent or 1.02 points.
The market capitalization was recorded at MUR 218.399 billion, by losing MUR 578 million (relative to MUR 218.977 billion recorded at previous trading session). The overall total volume trade was recorded at 8.827 million (vs. 9.473 million recorded yesterday) with total valued traded at MUR 25.999 million, lower than previous trading session figures.
The most active traded securities were New Mauritius Hotels Rights by exchanging 4.587 million with total value traded of MUR 45,888.67 and SBM Holdings Mauritius registered 3.582 million securities at MUR 3.129 million. New Mauritius Hotels Limited had 177,900 traded stocks at MUR 3.401 million and The Mauritius Development Investment Trust Co. Limited ended with a total volume of 142,077 at MUR 758,692.
From the market sentiment/breath perspectives, there were 2 price leaders and 8 price laggards. The two price leaders were GAMMA CIVIC added 3.70 percent to end at MUR 212.50) and MCB Group Limited gained 0.24 percent to close at MUR 212.50. On the laggards’ region, New Mauritius Hotels Right tumbled by 50.00 percent to trade at MUR 0.01 and SWAN General Limited Mauritius summersaulted by 4.76 percent to trade at MUR 360.00. Also, New Mauritius Hotels went down by 4.76 percent to close at MUR 19.00 and CIM Financial Services plunged by 1.94 percent to close at MUR 9.10. Also, LUX Island Resort, closed at MUR 61.50, by losing 0.81 percent.
The DEMEX index ended red, by losing 0.13 percent or 0.28 points to close at 207.33 points. The market capitalization was recorded at MUR 49.275 billion, by losing MUR 67 million from MUR 49.342 billion recorded at previous trading session. Total value traded was MUR 26.272 million exchanged in 967,829 traded securities. MEDCAL & SURGICAL gained 2.08 percent to trade at MUR 2.45. On the other hand, CONSTANCE Hotel slumped by 2.03 percent to close at MUR 36.25, CHEMCO Limited ended at MUR 21.80, after falling by 0.91 percent and HOTELES went down by 0.53 percent to end at MUR 37.20.
