Mauritius Market Watch | June 12th 2015: Mauritius equity market retracted its uptrend runs, market cap lost MUR 337 million
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius equity market retracted its uptrend runs today, the SEMDEX index tumbled by 0.15 percent or 3.04 points to reach 1,975.05 points and the Sem-10 slide by 0.19 percent or 0.72 points to 376.10 points. The market capitalization was recorded at MUR 219.581 billion, by losing MUR 337 million (against MUR 219.918 billion recorded yesterday) and overall total volume trade recorded at 20.433 million and turnover amounted to MUR 22.785 million. SBM Holdings Limited recorded 20.211 million volume and turnover of MUR 18.847 million and POLICY Limited recorded 98,725 traded securities valued at MUR 691,757. Equally, LOTTOTECH Limited recorded 70,000 traded stocks and turnover recorded at MUR 364,120.
The market sentiment was negative today, as the market breadth (advancer/decliners ratio) calculated at 0.4x with 2 gainers and 5 losers. The two price shakers were LOTTOTECH surged by 1.15 percent to close at MUR 5.26 and UNITED DOCKS Mauritius advanced by 0.76 percent to settle at MUR 66.50. On the other hand, New Hotel Mauritius Limited and Automatic Systems Limited Mauritius plunged by 2.79 percent and 2.31 percent with closing price of MUR 20.90 and MUR 36.00 respectively. Likewise, POLICY Limited Mauritius tumbled by 1.41 percent to close at MUR 7.00 and OMNICANE plummeted by 0.67 percent to close at MUR 74.50.
On the DEM counter, the DEMEX index climbed by 0.33 percent to close at 205.13 points and market capitalization of MUR 48.752 (added MUR 158 million relative to previous trading sessions of MUR 48.594 billion) and market turnover of MUR 1.908 million on volume of 83,287. There were three gainers and no losers today, the gainers were SODIA added 13.33 percent to conclude at MUR 0.34 traded on 27,033 securities, MEDINE Limited surged by 1.61 percent to conclude at MUR 63.00 and CONSTANCE Hotel climbed by 1.12 percent to settle at MUR 26.00 exchanged in 35,000 securities.
