Mauritius Market Watch | June 15th 2015: Mauritius equity market tumbles today, market cap down by MUR 255 million
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius equity market began the week on downtrend today, the SEMDEX index tumbled by 0.12 percent or 2.30 points to close 1,972.76 points and the Sem-10 slide by 0.13 percent or 0.48 points to 375.62 points. The market capitalization was recorded at MUR 219.326 billion, by losing MUR 255 million (against MUR 219.581 billion recorded at previous trading day) and overall total volume trade recorded at 17.053 million and turnover amounted to MUR 36.350 million. SBM Holdings Limited recorded 16.523 million volume and turnover of MUR 15.407 million and POLICY Limited recorded 291,200 traded securities valued at MUR 2.024 million. Equally, MDIT recorded 83,566 traded stocks and turnover recorded at MUR 429,740.
The market sentiment was negative today, as the market breadth (advancer/decliners ratio) calculated at 0.125x with 1 gainers and 8 losers. The one price shaker was MDIT surged by 1.17 percent to close at MUR 5.20. On the other hand, ROCKCASTLE and Air Mauritius plunged by 5.36 percent and 2.18 percent with closing price of US$ 2.65 and MUR 11.20 respectively. Likewise, New Mauritius Hotels tumbled by 1.91 percent to close at MUR 20.50 and CAUDAN plummeted by 0.71 percent to close at MUR 1.39.
On the DEM counter, the DEMEX index climbed by 0.06 percent to close at 205.25 points and market capitalization of MUR 48.799 (added MUR 47 million relative to previous trading sessions of MUR 48.752 billion) and market turnover of MUR 1.743 million on volume of 112,412. There were two gainers and two losers today, the gainers were UNITED INVESTMENT added 2.04 percent to conclude at MUR 12.50 traded on 20,000 securities and ENL Limited surged by 1.85 percent to conclude at MUR 27.50. While the losers were SODIA plunged by 2.94 percent to settle at MUR 0.33 exchanged in 50,000 securities and EUDCOS plummeted by 0.66 percent to settle MUR 15.00.
