Mauritius Market Watch | June 18th 2015: Mauritius equity market maintains positive momentum, SEMDEX 0.38% up, Market Cap adds MUR 824 million
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius equity market continued the positive momentum at the end of trading session. The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) gained 0.38 percent or 7.42 points to close 1,983.33 points and the SEM10 gained 0.57 percent or 2.51 points to end at 379.26 points. The market capitalization was recorded at MUR 220.490 billion, by adding MUR824 million (against MUR 219.666 billion recorded at previous trading day) and overall total volume trade recorded at 11.313 million (relative to MUR 16.602 million on previous trading session) and turnover amounted to MUR 122.971 million (compared to MUR 74.843 million recorded on previous trading session). The most active traded securities were SBM Holdings Limited with 9.608 million volume and turnover of MUR 8.06 million and SUN RESORTS Limited recorded 1.833 million traded securities with turnover of MUR 80.656 million. Equally, CIEL Limited had 461,355 traded stocks and turnover recorded at MUR 3.321 million and Mauritius Development Investment Trust ended with a volume of 161,248.
The market sentiment was negative today, as the market breadth (advancer/decliners ratio) calculated at 1.25x with 5 price leaders and 4 price laggards. On the leaders list were POLICY Mauritius rose 2.84 percent to close at MUR 7.24, Mauritius Development Investment Trust increased by 0.77 percent to settle at MUR 5.24 and POLICY climbed by 0.57 percent to end at MUR 7.04. Equally, MCB GROUP augmented by 1.65 percent to trade at MUR 215.00. On the laggards, GEMMA CIVIC and ASL plunged by 2.78 percent (to close at MUR 28.00) and 2.78 percent (with closing price of MUR 2.78) respectively. Likewise, BLUELIFE Limited tumbled by 0.42 percent to close at MUR 4.78 and LOTTOTECH Limited plummeted by 0.38 percent to close at MUR 5.24.
On the DEM counter, the DEMEX index plunged by 0.39 percent to close at 204.27 points and market capitalization of MUR 48.547 (a decrease of MUR188 million relative to previous trading sessions of MUR 48.735 billion) and market turnover of MUR 1.823 million exchanged in 133,063 traded securities.
