Mauritius Market Watch | June 19th 2015: Mauritius equity market ends on positive note, SEMDEX 0.19% up, Market Cap MUR 424 million gains
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius equity market continued the positive momentum at the end of trading session, so end the week in green. The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) gained 0.19 percent or 0.97 points to close 1,987.04 points and the SEM10 gained 0.26 percent or 0.97 points to end at 380.23 points. The market capitalization was recorded at MUR 220.914 billion, by adding MUR 424 million (against MUR 220.490 billion recorded at previous trading day) and overall total volume trade recorded at 6.724 million (relative to MUR 11.313 million on previous trading sessions) and turnover amounted to MUR 55.475 million (compared to MUR 122.971 million recorded on previous trading session). The most active traded securities were SBM Holdings Limited with 5.929 million volume and turnover of MUR 5.514 million and LUX RESORTS Limited recorded 189,520 traded securities with turnover of MUR 11.750 million. Equally, AIR Mauritius Limited had 187,074 traded stocks and turnover recorded at MUR 1.965 million and MCB Group ended with a volume of 149,644 traded shares with turnover of MUR 32.291 million.
The market sentiment was negative today, as the market breadth (advancer/decliners ratio) calculated at 2.5x with 5 price leaders and 2 price laggards. On the leaders list were Mauritius Development Investment Trust rose 2.64 percent to close at MUR 5.44, UBP increased by 1.50 percent to settle at MUR 84.50 and MCB Group climbed by 0.70 percent to end at MUR 216.50. Equally, LUX Island Resorts added 0.40 percent to trade at MUR 62.00 and POLICY rose by 0.28 percent to trade at MUR 7.2. On the laggards, Air Mauritius plunged by 4.5 percent to close at MUR 10.50 and LOTTOTECH Limited plummeted by 0.76 percent to close at MUR 5.20.
On the DEM counter, the DEMEX index gained 0.09 percent to close at 204.44 points and market capitalization of MUR 48.589 (an increase of MUR 42 million relative to previous trading sessions of MUR 48.547 billion) and market turnover of MUR 7.836 million exchanged in 1.613 million traded securities.
