Mauritius Market Watch | June 22nd 2015: Mauritius equity market starts on red, SEMDEX 0.07% falls, Market Cap MUR 147 million down
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius equity markets started the week on bearish mood. The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) marginally lost 0.07 percent or 1.32 points to close 1,985.72 points and the SEM10 fell by 0.13 percent or 0.49 points to end at 379.74 points. The market capitalization was recorded at MUR 220.767 billion, by falling by MUR 147 million (against MUR 220.914 billion recorded at previous trading day) and overall total volume trade recorded at 16.822 million (relative to MUR 6.724 million on previous trading sessions) and turnover amounted to MUR 50.994 million (compared to MUR 55.475 million recorded on previous trading session). The most active traded securities were SBM Holdings Limited with 15.603 million volume and turnover of MUR 14.336 million and CIEL Limited recorded 711,615 traded securities with turnover of MUR 5.120 million. Equally, Mauritius Development Investment Trust had 82,800 traded stocks and turnover recorded at MUR 450,132 and IRELAND BLYTH ended with a volume of 73,120 traded shares with turnover of MUR 8.373 million.
The market sentiment ended neutral today (advancer/decliners ratio) calculated at 1x with 4 price leaders and 4 price laggards. On the leaders list were SUN Resort rose 1.14 percent to close at MUR 44.50, POLICY advanced by 0.83 percent to settle at MUR 7.32 and Ireland Blyth climbed by 0.44 percent to end at MUR 114.50. Equally, MCB Group added 0.23 percent to trade at MUR 217.00. On the laggards, ASL plunged by 5.71 percent to close at MUR 33.00 and SBM Holdings Limited plummeted by 1.08 percent to close at MUR 0.92. In addition, VIVO Energy and New Mauritius Hotels went down by 0.79 percent and 0.48 percent to end at MUR 126.00 and MUR 20.90 respectively.
However, the DEMEX index gained 0.66 percent or 1.35 points to close at 205.79 points and market capitalization of MUR 49.909 (an increase of MUR 1.32 billion relative to previous trading sessions of MUR 48.589 billion) and market turnover of MUR 4.752 million exchanged in 25,269 traded securities.
