Mauritius Market Watch | June 23rd 2015: Mauritius equity market Continues on bearish mood, SEMDEX 0.05% falls, Market Cap MUR 107 million down
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius equity markets continued on bearish mood. The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) marginally lost 0.05 percent or 0.96 points to close 1,984.76 points but the SEM10 index rose by 0.06 percent or 0.23 points to end at 379.97 points. The market capitalization was recorded at MUR 220.660 billion, by falling by MUR 107 million (against MUR 220.767 billion recorded at previous trading day) and overall total volume recorded at 7.126 million (relative to MUR 16.822 million on previous trading sessions) and turnover amounted to MUR 29.614 million (compared to MUR 50.994 million recorded on previous trading session). The most active traded securities were SBM Holdings Limited with 6.741 million volume and turnover of MUR 6.199 million and MCB Group had 74,220 traded securities with turnover of MUR 16.106 million. Equally, CIEL Limited had 71,458 traded stocks and turnover recorded at MUR 514,498 and LOTTOTECH Limited ended with a volume of 39,900 traded shares with turnover of MUR 207,480.
The market sentiment ended neutral today (advancer/decliners ratio) calculated at 0.67x with 4 price leaders and 6 price laggards. On the leaders list were CAUDAN rose 4.51 percent to close at MUR 1.39, LUX ISLAND advanced by 0.81 percent to settle at MUR 62.50 and VIVO ENERGY climbed by 0.79 percent to end at MUR 127.00. Equally, TERRA added 0.31 percent to trade at MUR 32.60. On the laggards, Mauritius Union Assurance plunged by 3.85 percent to close at MUR 75.00 and PIM Limited plummeted by 3.58 percent to close at MUR 74.00. In addition, GAMMA CIVIC and AIR Mauritius Limited went down by 3.57 percent and 0.95 percent to end at MUR 27.00 and MUR 10.40 respectively.
However, the DEMEX index gained 0.16 percent or 0.32 points to close at 206.11 points but market capitalization down to end MUR 48.985 (a decrease of MUR 76 million relative to previous trading sessions of MUR 49.909 billion) and market turnover of MUR 9.697 million exchanged in 447,787 traded securities.
