Mauritius Market Watch | June 3rd 2015: Mauritius equity market maintains positive trend…
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):-Mauritius equity market indices maintained positive trend during the session. The Semdex went up by 0.14 percent to 1959.73 points while the SEM-10 gained 0.17 percent to close at 371.45 points.
Looking at the market activity, today’s overall turnover on the market amounted to 53.0m and was mainly geared towards CFS and SBMH which accounted for 78.2 percent. CFS gained 0.4 percent to MUR 9.78 on a total volume of 2.4 million shares traded. The latter reached a high of MUR 9.80 at which price it witnessed a cross of 2.3 million shares. SBM Holdings closed unchanged at MUR 0.93 on a total volume of 19.7 million shares traded and saw a cross of 7.2m shares at MUR 0.92.
Still on the movers and the shakers, MCB Group closed higher at MUR 204.75, gaining 0.7 percent on 14,500 shares traded. Among the industrial companies, Gamma plummeted by 1.0 percent to end at MUR 29.50. While Mauritius Oil & Refinery Limited saw 1,500 shares exchanged at its ex-div price of MUR 27.90. On the hotel sector, the largest hotel group New Mauritius Hotel shed off 2.0 percent to settle at MUR 60.25 on total volume of 17,500 shares. But Lux Island Resorts Mauritius closed maintained previous price at MUR 61.50 on a volume of 4,500 shares and Sun Resorts maintained its upward trend reaching MUR 43.60, by gaining 0.2 percent.
The investment counter ENL Land (O) experienced an increase of 0.9 percent to close at MUR 45.00 on only 300 shares. Likewise, Terra also grew by 0.3 percent to MUR 31.60 on just 100 shares and Mauritius Development & Investment Trust grew by 1.6 percent to close at MUR 5.08 on a total volume of 249,400 shares. Also, Caudan gained 1.4 percent to close at MUR1.40 on 200 shares.
On the DEM, the index was up by 0.51 percent to 206.02 points. Market turnover amounted to MUR 7.3 million and was mainly driven by Ciel Textile and Swan Life which accounted for 88.3 percent of total market capitalization. Ciel textile went up by 3.1 percent after announcing higher final dividend than previous year (MUR 1.75 against MUR1.25 in 2014) on a volume of 91,600 shares. Swan Life Ltd was the top performer gaining 4.5 percent to close at MUR 930.00. Also, Tropical Paradise rose by 3.0 percent to MUR 6.18.
