Mauritius Market Watch | June 4th 2015: Mauritius equity market sustains positive trend, SEMDEX 0.40% and SEM10 0.54%
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius equity market indices ended the session in positive territory today. The Semdex gained 0.40 percent to 1967.64 points and the SEM-10 rose by 0.54 percent to 373.45 points. The market capitalization was recorded at BWP 218.757 billion.
With regard to market activity, total market turnover amounted to MUR 106.5 million mainly geared towards SBM Holdings which accounted for 80.8 percent of total market turnover. SBM Holdings traded at a low of MUR 0.93 at which price it witnessed several crosses before closing higher at MUR 0.94 on a total volume 92,400 shares. MCB Group gained 1.1 percent to MUR 207.00 on 44,200 shares. CIM Financial Services lost 0.4 percent to MUR 9.74 on a total volume of 53,600 shares. Mauritius Union Assurance gained 0.7 percent to close at MUR 77.00.
On the commerce counter, IBL shed off 1.5 percent to MUR 114.00 on only 200 shares. Innodis lost 0.9 percent to reach MUR 53.00 on only 100 shares. Among industrial companies, Mauritius Oil & Refinery gained 0.4 percent to MUR 28.00 whilst Gamma Civic lost 1.4 percent to conclude MUR 29.10. Among the hotels, Lux Resorts lost 0.8 percent to close at MUR 61.00 on a total volume of 18,100 shares. New Mauritius Hotels rose by 0.8 percent to reach MUR 60.75 on a volume of 1,400 shares. Sun Resorts experienced a growth of 0.9 percent with a closing price of MUR 44.00 on 17,000 shares.
Lottotech was the top performer of the session gaining 3.1 percent to MUR 5.34 (+3.1 percent) on a total volume of 46,500 shares. ASL was also among the gainers (0.2 percent) on a volume of 300 shares. Air Mauritius lost 0.4 percent to close at MUR 11.20 . On the investment counter, Rogers experienced a loss of 0.7 percent to MUR 29.75 on 14,200 shares exchanged. Mauritius Development Investment Trust (MDIT) was the top performer among the investment companies gaining 1.6 percent to settle at MUR 5.16 on a volume of 50,900 shares. Likewise, Fincorp gained 0.50 percent to close at MUR 20.00 on only 180 shares. Alteo gained 0.6 percent to MUR 31.30.
On the DEM, the index went up by 0.05 percent to reach 206.12 points. Market turnover amounted to MUR 1.1 million mainly geared towards Medine (o) and Ciel Textile which accounted for 82.3 percent of total market turnover Medine (O) gained 0.8 percent to close at MUR 63.50 on a volume of 8,300 shares. Ciel textile traded flat at MUR 40.00 on 8,500 shares but EUDCOS lost 1.3 percent on 10,000 shares traded.
