Mauritius Market Watch | June 5th 2015: Mauritius equity market indices end the week on positive note
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius equity market indices end in a positive territory today, the SEMDEX index went up by 0.16 percent to reach 1,970.79 points and the Sem-10 rose by 0.16 percent to 374.42 points. The market capitalization was recorded at MUR 219.108 billion and overall total volume trade recorded at 38.414 million and turnover amounted to MUR 50.867 million, mainly geared towards SBM Holdings which accounted for almost 70 percent of total market turnover and nearly 99 percent of the total volume.
The market sentiment was positive today, as the market breadth (advancer/decliners ratio) calculated at 2.5x with 5 advancers and 2 decliners. Topping the price gainers were BLUELIFE Limited Mauritius gained 2.94 percent to close at MUR 4.90, New Mauritius Hotels advanced by 2.06 percent to settle at MUR 62.00 and LUX Island Resorts Mauritius gained 0.82 percent to trade at MUR 61.00. On the other hand, ENL LAND LTD (P) Mauritius and Lottotech Mauritius fell by 2.22 percent and 0.75 percent with closing price of MUR 44.00 and MUR 5.30 respectively.
On the DEM counter, the DEMEX index surged by 0.69 percent to close at 207.55 points and market capitalization of MUR 49.267 billion and market turnover of MUR 108.408 million on volume of 1.889 million. The gainers were ASCENCIA CLASS B, LIVESTOCK (P) and MED & SURG rose by 19.90 percent, 10.45 percent and 4.35 percent to close at MUR 12.35, MUR 24.30 and MUR 2.40 respectively. While RHT HOLDING LTD lost 6.67 percent to conclude at MUR 28.00 and UNITED Investment fell by 4.00 percent to close at MUR 12.00.
