Mauritius Market Watch | June 9th 2015: Mauritius equity market extends positive run, market cap adds MUR 188 million
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius equity market continued on a positive territory today, the SEMDEX index went up by 0.09 percent to reach 1,976.34 points and the Sem-10 rose by 0.17 percent to 375.59 points. The market capitalization was recorded at MUR 219.724 billion (against MUR 219.536 billion recorded yesterday) and overall total volume trade recorded at 3.964 million and turnover amounted to MUR 47.899 million. SBM Holdings Limited recorded 3.312 million volume and valued at MUR 3.133 million and MCB Group recorded 127,136 traded securities valued at MUR 26.408 million.
The market sentiment was negative today, as the market breadth (advancer/decliners ratio) calculated at 0.75x with 6 advancers and 8 decliners. Topping the price gainers were AIR Mauritius gained 2.23 percent to close at MUR 11.45, TERRA Mauritius advanced by 1.27 percent to settle at MUR 32.00 and LUX Island Resorts Mauritius gained 0.41 percent to trade at MUR 61.75. On the other hand, Automatic System Limited and POLICY Mauritius fell by 5.00 percent and 2.98 percent with closing price of MUR 38.00 and MUR 7.16 respectively. Likewise, ENL COMMERCIAL Mauritius went down by 1.34 percent to close at MUR 22.05 and ENL LAND Limited plummeted by 1.14 percent to close at MUR 43.50.
On the DEM counter, the DEMEX index lost 0.42 percent to close at 206.81 points and market capitalization of MUR 49.152 billion (lost MUR 148 million) and market turnover of MUR 53.518 million on volume of 1.44 million. The gainers were UNITED INVESTMENT rose by 0.42 percent to close at MUR 12.05 and Constance Hotel edged by 0.26 percent to conclude at MUR 38.40. While SODIA, MEDINE Limited and ENL Limited (P) fell by 14.29 to close at MUR 0.30, 3. 08 percent to settle at MUR 63.00 and 0.35 percent to end at MUR 28.50 respectively.
